Command Sgt. Maj. Michael G. Eilers

1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team

Command Sgt. Maj. Michael G. Eilers is a native of Lancaster, California, and enlisted in the Army in November 2002 as an Infantryman. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, and has held every leadership position from team leader to brigade command sergeant major.

His stateside assignments include 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, at Fort Drum, New York; 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina; the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, and the1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, at Fort Carson, Colorado; 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and the Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas. His overseas assignments include South Asia desk NCOIC for U.S. Army Pacific Security Cooperation and Policy Division and the USARPAC Executive Staff at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. He has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan for combat tours totaling 37 months.

Eilers’ military education includes the Warrior Leader Course, Basic NCO Course, U.S. Army Drill Sergeant School, Airborne Course, Maneuver Senior Leader Course, Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course, Ranger Course, Security Cooperation Management Action Officer Course, International Programs Security Requirements Course, Asia-Pacific Orientation Course, Security Cooperation Planners Course, Joint Foreign Area Officer Course, Air Assault Course, First Sergeant Course, Sergeants Major Academy and University of Louisville Strategic Broadening Seminar. His civilian education includes a high school diploma from Lancaster High School, Bachelor of Arts in international security studies from Hawaii Pacific University, and a master's in public policy focusing on international water security from Oregon State University.   

Hia awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), Army Commendation Medal (7th award), Army Achievement Award (2nd award), Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award (2nd award), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award) and the Iraq and Afghanistan campaign medals. Eilers also holds the Combat and Expert infantryman badges, Driver and Mechanic badges (wheeled), Drill Sergeants Identification Badge, Parachutist Badge, Order of the Combat Spur from the 61st Cavalry Regiment, Air Assault Badge, Ranger tab, Order of Saint George and the Order of Saint Maurice.

Eilers married and has three children.
