Command Sgt. Maj. Travis A. Manuel

Command Sgt. Maj. Travis A. Manuel was born and raised in Houston. He enlisted in the Army May 11, 2004, as a cavalry scout, 19D, and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Manuel has served in every leadership position from team leader to command sergeant major. Additionally, he has served as a personal security detachment NCOIC, drill sergeant, battalion operations sergeant, senior military science instructor at the University of Nebraska, operations sergeant major and command sergeant major.

His stateside assignments include Fort Knox; Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Moore, Georgia; Lincoln, Nebraska; Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort Stewart, Georgia; and Fort Carson, Colorado. His deployments include three tours in Iraq, a regionally aligned forces (RAF) deployment to Korea and six RAF deployments to Romania, Germany and Poland in support of Atlantic Resolve, and Operation European Assure, Deter and Reinforce.

Manuel’s military education includes all levels of NCO Professional Development System for his current rank and position, Battle Staff NCO Course, Army Basic Instructors Course, Army Reconnaissance Course, Army Combatives Course, Mechanized Leaders Course, Drill Sergeant School, Master Educators Course and Common Faculty Development Instructor Course.

His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), the Army Commendation Medal (5th award), the Army Achievement Medal (5th award), Valorous Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Citation, Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Drivers Badge (Track) and the Army Basic Instructors Badge. He is a proud member of the coveted Order of Saint George and the Order of Saint Maurice in the rank of Legionnaire.

Manuel is married and has three children.
