Brig. Gen. Brendan C. Raymond, Deputy Commanding General - Support

4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson

Brig. Gen. Brendan C. Raymond was commissioned a second lieutenant of field artillery in June 1996 following graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. His first assignment was in the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as a troop fire support officer, platoon leader, executive officer and battalion fire support officer.

Upon completion of the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course, he was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He served as a battalion fire support officer in 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry; assistant battalion operations officer in 3rd Battalion, 7th Field Artillery; and later commanded Charlie Battery prior to the 3rd Brigade’s deployment to Afghanistan in 2004. He assumed command of Fox Battery, 7th Field Artillery, during Operation Enduring Freedom IV-V. Upon his return from Afghanistan, he was assigned to the United States Military Academy Department of Military Instruction where his served as the department operations officer and associate professor of military science.

Raymond attended the Naval War College in 2007 and upon completion was reassigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky. As the 101st Airborne Division assistant fire support coordinator, he deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom VIII-IX. Following this deployment, he was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team and served as the battalion operations officer in 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment. He deployed to Afghanistan as the battalion operations officer and later served as the battalion executive officer in combat. Upon redeployment, he became the 2nd Brigade Combat Team executive officer. In April 2012, he deployed to Afghanistan as the brigade executive officer and served as a combat adviser in Regional Command-East. Upon redeployment, he served as the 2nd Brigade Combat Team deputy commander.

Raymond commanded 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, and later 101st Airborne Division Artillery. Following command, he was reassigned as the 101st Airborne Division deputy fire support coordinator. In February 2016, he deployed to Operation Inherent Resolve where he served as the J3 and fire support coordinator for the division TAC in Erbil, Iraq. After this deployment, he attended the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Following Senior Service College, he was reassigned to Oahu, Hawaii, and he commanded the 25th Division Artillery Brigade in the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks.

In the Pentagon, Raymond served as the chief of staff on the Joint Staff J-7, the executive officer to the 25th Secretary of the Army and as the director of integration in the Army G-8 Force Development. Raymond currently serves as the deputy commanding general for support for the 4th Infantry Division.

Raymond is married and has three children.
