Testing for expert skills badges

FORT CARSON, Colo. – Soldiers assigned to the 4th Infantry Division walk onto a land navigation course in pursuit of the Expert Infantryman Badge, Expert Soldier Badge or Expert Field Medical Badge on Fort Carson, Dec. 4. Dubbed the E3B, Soldiers will compete in more than 40 tasks to test their warrior skills, physical fitness, mental resilience and intellectual aptitude. Those who achieve the standards will be awarded one of the three expert skills badges their military occupational specialty is authorized to earn and wear. Tasks include land navigation, a timed 12-mile ruck march, medical tasks, weapons and equipment assembly, weapons operation and moving under direct fire.
