Hazardous waste storage facility under construction

FORT CARSON, Colo. — Tim Caraveo, a Directorate of Public Works (DPW) contractor, prepares the interior of the new hazardous waste storage facility (HWSF) for insulation and vinyl. The new HWSF in building 9243, located in the Consolidated Hazardous Waste Site off Butts Road, is designed to provide administrative and storage space for DPW Environmental Division and Army Field Support Battalion staff. The 4,800-square-foot, 14-foot-high pre-engineered metal building will include a kitchen/break room, two restrooms, a shower, offices and storage space and new fire alarm and mass notification system, heating and cooling system, lighting and communications. The $1.8 million renovation project that began in January 2024 is scheduled for completion in fall 2024.
