
Commander
COL Adam F. Latham
Col. Adam F. Latham, commissioned as an Armor Officer upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2001. He served as a Reconnaissance/ Anti-Tank Platoon Leader, Support Platoon Leader and Executive Officer in 3rd Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. His most recent venture was graduating as a National Security Fellow from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Before attending the career course, he served as the Brigade S1, 4th BCT, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Johnson, Louisiana. Following this, he was an Armor Officer Basic Course Instructor, and later Headquarters and Headquarters Troop Commander, 2nd Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment. He then moved to Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as a Reconnaissance Troop Commander, and later as A/S3 of 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team. As a senior captain, Col. Latham then moved to 191st Training Support Brigade, where he served as the S3 and XO of 1st Battalion, 357th Infantry Battalion and subsequently attended the Command and General Staff College.
Following graduation from CGSC, he served as the S3 and Executive Officer of 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, and the Brigade Executive Officer of 3rd SBCT. After serving in that billet for over a year, he served as the Secretary of the General Staff, 7th Infantry Division from May 2015 to March 2016. He then was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp to the U.S. Security Coordinator to Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
Following his promotion to lieutenant colonel, he served as the Deputy G3 of 3rd Infantry Division for a year, and then commanded 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment from May 2019 to May 2021. Post command, he moved to Fort Irwin, California, where he served as the Senior Cavalry Trainer-Cobra 07, and then the Senior Brigade Staff Trainer-Bronco 07, for 22 rotations at the National Training Center. Most recently he was selected to attend Harvard Kennedy School as a National Security Fellow.
Col. Latham took part in Operation Iraqi Freedom I, and supported Operation Enduring Freedom from 2009-2010 and 2011-2012. He was also stationed in Jerusalem from March 2016 to November 2017.
His awards and decorations include two Bronze Star Medals, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, six Army Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, and Combat Action Badge.
Col. Latham is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic Course, Scout Platoon Leader’s Course, Armor Captains’ Career Course, the Cavalry Leader’s Course, the Army Command and General Staff College, Webster University’s International Relations Master’s Program, and he graduated as a Harvard National Security Fellow.

CSM James R. Pyle
Command Sgt. Maj. James R. Pyle enlisted in the United States Army in 2001 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he earned the military occupational specialty of M1A1 Armored Crewman (19K).
His previous duty positions and assignments include: 1-64 Armor, Fort Stewart, Georgia, serving as a Tank Loader and Gunner; 1-72 Armor and 2-9 Infantry, Camp Casey, Korea, serving as a Tank Gunner; 2/11 Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Irwin, California, serving as a Tank Commander and Master Gunner; 1-64 Armor, Fort Stewart, serving as a Tank Commander and Master Gunner; 2-47 Infantry and 1-81 Armor, Fort Moore, Georgia, serving as a Senior Drill Sergeant and First Sergeant; 1-5 Infantry, 3-21 Infantry, 5-1 Cavalry, and Headquarters and Headquarters Company and 1-25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, serving as a Mobile Gun System Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Master Gunner, Rifle Company First Sergeant, Heavy Weapons Troop First Sergeant, and the HHC Brigade First Sergeant; United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas Class 70; 5-1 Cavalry and 1-25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Fort Wainwright, serving as the Squadron and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major; 1-14 Cavalry, JBLM, Washington, serving as the Squadron Command Sergeant Major. His military education includes Brigade and Battalion Pre-Command Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Maneuver Senior Leaders Course, Cold Weather Leader Course, M1A1 Abrams Master Gunner Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Drill Sergeant School, Squad Designated Marksman Course, and Army Basic Combative Course.
