COL Kirby R. "Bo" Dennis

Colonel Kirby “Bo” Dennis is an infantry officer in the United States Army.  He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree in American Politics. COL Dennis has held numerous leadership positions from the platoon to brigade level throughout his 21-year career as an active-duty officer and has been assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado, 2nd Infantry Division and 2nd Ranger Battalion at Fort Lewis, Washington, and the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York. He has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan on seven different occasions.

In addition to his operational experience, COL Dennis also served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (Policy); Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Army; and as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commander of U.S. Northern Command in Colorado Springs, CO.

He commanded the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment at Fort Carson, Colorado. Most recently, COL Dennis served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans and Operations (G3) for the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He assumed command of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in July 2022.

COL Dennis holds a master’s degree in Policy Management from Georgetown University and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School. He completed the Senior Service College Fellowship at Princeton University’s School for Public and International Affairs.

Command Sergeant Major

CSM Christopher Carey

Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher Carey enlisted in the Army in August 1995 and attended 19D Cavalry Scout One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

CSM Carey has served in every leadership position from Team Leader through Command Sergeant Major. His most recent positions include Armor Proponent Sergeant Major, Office of the Chief of Armor, United States Army Armor School, Fort Benning, Georgia; CSM, 1st Battalion, 9th Calvary Regiment, 2nd BDE, and Operations SGM, 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st BDE, 1st Calvary Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

CSM Carey is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Senior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Basic Leaders Course, and Air Assault Course. CSM Carey has an associate degree in interdisciplinary studies and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree through Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University.

CSM Carey’s operational deployments include Bosnia (Stabilization Force), Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom - two tours), Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom), and Lithuania (Atlantic Resolve).

CSM Carey’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), ARCOM (2 OLC), Air Assault Badge, Combat Action Badge, and he is a recipient of the Order of Saint George Bronze Medallion.
