LTC Jonathan Coe
Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Coe, a native of Darlington, SC, began his distinguished military career after graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in Army Aviation in 2004. Following flight school, he served in various leadership roles, including platoon leader and executive officer, with the 15th Military Intelligence Aerial Exploitation Battalion at Fort Hood, TX, deploying three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After completing the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course, he undertook a fourth deployment as a Battle Captain and Assistant S-3 with the 206th Military Intelligence Battalion. LTC Coe is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University.
Throughout his career, LTC Coe has held significant command and staff positions. He commanded an MQ-5B Hunter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) company and later an MQ-1C Gray Eagle UAS company, deploying in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Resolute Support. His expertise led to a key assignment at Army Human Resources Command (HRC), where he managed the careers of Army fixed-wing officers. Subsequently, he served as the Battalion Executive Officer and a Pilot in Command with the U.S. Army Priority Air Transport Command (USAPAT), where he facilitated global air travel for the Secretary of the Army, Chief of Staff of the Army, and other senior Department of War leaders.
In more recent years, LTC Coe has taken on strategic and joint assignments, serving as the Director of Flight Operations for the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, from 2020 to 2022. He later served as the Aviation Team Chief for First Army Headquarters and as the Professor of Military Science at Howard University, where he was responsible for mentoring and developing over 100 cadets. As of June 2025, he currently serves as the Battalion Commander of the 224th Military Intelligence Battalion (Aerial Exploitation).
LTC Coe’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Air Medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, and numerous campaign and service medals. He also holds the Master Aviator Badge and Army Staff Identification Badge.
Battalion Command Sergeant Major
CSM Richard Williams
Command Sergeant Major Richard (Rich) Williams is a native of Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. CSM Williams enlisted in the United States Army in 1999 and attended Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training as an Intelligence Analyst (35F) at Ft Huachuca, Arizona. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and his Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston.
During his career CSM Williams has served as a G2 Sergeant Major, Operations Sergeant Major, First Sergeant, Senior Intelligence Analyst, Chief Intelligence Sergeant, and Battalion S2 NCOIC. He has eight deployments and has participated in Operation Atlantic Resolve, Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Freedom Sentinel, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
CSM Williams assignments include the 1st Armored Division G2 Ft. Bliss Texas, The Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership Center of Excellence Fort Bliss Texas, 7th Special Forces Group Eglin AFB Florida, SHAPE Survey Division Mons Belgium, 1st BN 5th Special Forces Group Ft. Campbell Kentucky, Human Resources Command Alexandria Virginia, 3-509th Infantry BN Fort Richardson Alaska, USSTRATCOM Offutt AFB Nebraska, and the 319th Military Intelligence Battalion Ft. Bragg North Carolina.
CSM Williams’ military education includes, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, the Sergeant Major Academy, Curriculum Developers Course, U.S. Army Jumpmaster School, Special Operations Analysis and Intelligence Course, Combatives Level 1, Intelligence Collection Managers Course, Manpower and Force Management Course, and the Joint Planning Officers Course.
CSM Williams’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), and numerous campaign and service medals.
