Battalion Commander

LTC Timothy D. Cox

 

 

LTC Timothy D. Cox is a native of Lyndon, Kansas and a 2006 graduate of McPherson College.  He was commissioned into the Army through the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA in 2007. LTC Cox is a graduate of the Chemical Officers Basic Course, Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Ranger School, Technical Escort Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, and Command and General Staff College. LTC Cox completed a Bachelors in Biochemistry from McPherson College and a Masters in Homeland Security from the University of Kansas.

 

He served two tours in Korea and one deployment to Afghanistan.  LTC Cox served as the Battalion Chemical Officer at Camp Casey in the 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment (Manchu). He served in the 75th Ranger Regiment from 2009-2011.  LTC Cox commanded the 61st CBRN Company, 23d CBRNE Battalion at Camp Stanley, Korea from 2013-2015.  In 2015, he taught Captains Career Course at the United States Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear School (USACBRNS) at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. In 2016, LTC Cox served as the Aide-de-Camp to MG Kent Savre, the Commanding General of the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood, MO. 

 

He was the operations officer (S3) and executive officer (XO) of the 22d Chemical Battalion at Fort Bliss, TX from 2018-2020. LTC Cox served in United States Special Operations Command, J10-Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate from 2020-2023.  He most recently served as a Synchronization Staff Officer on the Army Staff in the G-8 – Full Dimension Protection Division (FDB) and Force Development Operations Division at the Pentagon from 2023-2025.

 

LTC Cox’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Award (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal, GWOT Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Ranger Tab.

Command Sergeant Major Matt E. Torrence is from Hallsville, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army on 14 September 2004 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO as a 74D Chemical Operations Specialist.

CSM Torrence’s military and civilian education include the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Warriors Leader Course (Basic Leaders Course equivalent) at Fort Bragg, NC, CBRN Advanced Leader Course (Commandant’s List), CBRN Senior Leader Course (Commandant’s List), Sergeant Major Academy (Non-Resident), Airborne School, Advanced Airborne School (SLJM), Military Free Fall (MFF) Course, MFF Jumpmaster Course, Drill Sergeant Academy, Combat Tactics Course, Combat Capabilities Development Course and many other technical and tactical schools throughout the military. CSM Torrence holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Charleston, West Virginia.

Sergeant Major Torrence is a member of the Chemical Corps’ Honorable Order of the Dragon.
