LTC Andrew "Drew" Holler

Battalion Commander

 

LTC Andrew “Drew” Holler was born and raised in LaGrange, GA.  He graduated from the United States Military Academy and commissioned as a Field Artillery officer in May 2006.  Following the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division in Fort Stewart, Georgia where he served as a Fire Direction Officer, a Cannon Platoon Leader, and Battery Executive Officer. During his initial assignment, LTC Holler deployed to Balad, Iraq in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM 07-08.
 
Upon completion of the Field Artillery Officer Captains Career Course in 2009, LTC Holler was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT) where he served as a Division Staff Officer, Battalion Fire Support Officer for 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, and Battery Commander of Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment. During this time, he deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan and Shinwar, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM 10 and 12. In 2015, after completion of battery command, LTC Holler was assigned to the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University as an Assistant Professor of Military Science.
 
In 2018, LTC Holler was assigned to the XVIII Airborne Corps G5 as a planner. During this assignment, he was deployed in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE. In 2019, LTC Holler served as the Battalion Operations Officer and Executive Officer of 3rd Battalion, 319th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. He again deployed with the 82nd Immediate Response Force in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE. Additionally, LTC Holler served as the Executive Officer for the 82nd Airborne Division Artillery.
In July 2022, LTC Holler served as the Operations Advisor and Executive Officer for 4th Battalion, 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade. In this role, LTC Holler deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia to partner with officers from the Somalia National Army Headquarters, and the Danab Brigade.
 
LTC Holler holds a Master of Arts in Operational Art from the School of Advanced Military Studies, a Master of Arts in Trauma and Crisis Counseling from Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the United States Military Academy.  His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.

Command Sergeant Major Robert J. Kern is a native of New Castle, Indiana. He entered military service in March 2004 as a Field Artillery Fire Direction Specialist with One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was awarded the 13 Delta MOS.
 
CSM Kern has served as Chart Operator, Fire Direction Specialist, Chief Fire Control Sergeant, Training Developer, Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Digital Master Gunner, Brigade Operations Sergeant, Brigade Chief Fire Control Sergeant, Brigade Digital Master Gunner, Cannon Battery Observer Coach and Trainer, Battalion Fire Direction Observer Coach Trainer, Battery First Sergeant, and Division Fire Support Operations SGM.

CSM Kern’s military education includes:  all levels of NCOPD from Basic Leaders Course to Sergeants Major Academy, Battle Staff Course, Field Artillery Master Gunner Course, Mission Command Master Gunner Course, Joint Operational Fires and Effects Course, Precision Fires Joint Collateral Damage Course, Precision Fires Target Mensuration Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Basic Instructor Course, Air Assault Course, Sling Load Inspector Certification Course (SLICC) and Combat Lifesaver Course. CSM Kern holds an Associate of Arts in Military History from American Military University and a certificate of undergraduate studies in Leadership and Workforce Development from U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
