GATE HOURS & LOCATIONS

If you are arriving are to Fort Stewart or HAAF after duty hours follow these steps for entry on post:

1. Inform the gate guards you are attending a ceremony

2. Show your driver's license, vehicle registration, and insurance to the Guard (if you are driving a rental, you only need your driver's license and rental agreement).

3. The Guard will verify that your license is valid and will call your background check over the radio. This will only take a few minutes.

4. Once your check is complete, drive safe to welcome your Soldier home!

Note: this "quick pass" is only valid until the Visitor Control Center opens for business the next morning. If you wish to visit post the next day, please stop by the Visitor Control Center for a paper pass.

Please ensure pets or other animals are not brought to the welcome home ceremony; service dogs are authorized.

Please ensure alcohol is not brought to the welcome home ceremony. Consumption of alcohol is not authorized while in attendance at the welcome home ceremony.

GATE 1 (W. General Screven Way) – Continue on Hero Road making a slight left onto Gulick Ave; right turn on W. 6th St.(Newman Fitness Center parking is on the right).

GATE 5 (Intersection of HWY 119 & HWY 144) – Continue on Gulick Ave. (HWY 119); turn left on W. 6th St. (Newman Fitness Center parking is on the right).

In the event of inclement weather, all ceremonies will beheld at the Newman Gymnasium in building 439. Address is: 496 West 6th Street, Fort Stewart, GA.

Wilson Gate (Hours: 24/7) – Straight on Wilson Blvd; turn right at South Lightning; turn left on Neal St. [arrived at airfield]

Montgomery Gate (Hours: 9am to 5:30pm, Monday-Friday) – Straight on Duncan Drive; Left on Leonard Neal Street; Left on North Lightning Road;Right on Neal Street [arrived at airfield]

Rio Gate (Hours: 24/7) – Stay on Rio Road; Right on Perimeter Road; left on South Lightning Road; left on Neal Street [arrived at airfield]

The Wilson Ave Gate will be closed from 9:00pm to 5:30am.The alternate gates are Rio Gate and Montgomery Gate. If you are unsure how to get to these gates please call the rear detachment phone number for assist with directions.

All visitors without Department of the Defense identification must enter through the Montgomery Gate from Savannah, GA. Visitor vehicle registration requirements: valid vehicle registration, driver's license,proof of insurance, and MDDS or MSF card for motorcycles.
