insignia.pngThe Unmanned Aircraft Systems Training Battalion Provisional was activated on April 19, 2006, during the transition of authority for Unmanned Aircraft Systems training from the U.S. Army Intelligence Center to the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence. On June 14, 2011, UASTB was designated 2nd Battalion, 13th Aviation Regiment with responsibility for the development and administration of five programs of instruction: Shadow UAS Repairer, Hunter UAS Repairer, UAS Operator Common Core, 1500 UAS Warrant Officer Technician, and UAS Unit Commander and Staff Officer Course.

The battalion operates the largest UAS training center in the world with over 125,000 square feet of training space, four hangars and three runways at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. Each year, the battalion trains approximately 2,000 Soldiers, Marines and foreign military students.

The 2nd Battalion, 13th Aviation Regiment, located at Fort Huachuca, AZ, was activated on 14 June 2011. The battalion is comprised of three companies: Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie.

Alpha Company is responsible for the administration, billeting, physical fitness, and messing of Initial Entry Training and MOS transition students for UAS Operators and Maintainers.

Bravo Company is responsible for the development and administration of four programs of instruction: UAS Operator Common Core, Shadow UAS Operator, Gray Eagle UAS Operator and the UAS Instructor Operator Course. Additionally, the company conducts daily flight operations from Libby Army Airfield, Rugge-Hamilton, and Pioneer Runways for all students, and currency flights on Shadow and Gray Eagle UAS.

Charlie Company is responsible for permanent party staff and the development and administration of four programs of instruction: the UAS Warrant Officer Technician course, UAS Unit Commander and Staff Officer Course, Shadow UAS Repairer, and Gray Eagle UAS Repairer training.
