CW5 Patrick J. Burg, Command Chief Warrant Officer, 1st Aviation Brigade
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Patrick J. Burg, a native of Richardson, Texas, graduated from high school in 1998 and earned an associate’s degree from Richland Junior College in 2001. Prior to entering military service, CW5 Burg worked as a banking professional. In 2004, he was selected for Warrant Officer Candidate School, graduating in 2005 and obtaining his Army Aviator wings in 2006.
Following flight training, CW5 Burg's initial assignment was at Fort Riley, Kansas, where he served as a Tactical Operations Officer with Charlie Company, 1-1 Attack Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB) and as a Maintenance Test Pilot with Bravo Company, 1-1 ARB. His subsequent key technical and leadership assignments include serving as the Production Control Officer for Charlie Company, 4-227 ARB at Fort Hood, Texas; the Aviation Maintenance Officer and Maintenance Examiner with 7-17 Air Cavalry Squadron (ACS) at Fort Hood, Texas; the Quality Control Officer and Support Operations (SPO) Aviation Officer with the 602nd Aviation Support Battalion (ASB) at Camp Humphreys, South Korea; and the Brigade Aviation Maintenance Officer with the 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade (2D CAB), also at Camp Humphreys, South Korea.
CW5 Burg’s operational deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom 07-09, Tikrit, Iraq; Operation New Dawn 10-11, Tallil and Taji, Iraq; Operation Enduring Freedom 13-14, Kandahar, Afghanistan; and Operation Inherent Resolve 18-19, Erbil, Iraq, and multiple locations throughout Syria.
His military education includes the AH-64 Qualification Course, Warrant Officer Advanced Course, Warrant Officer Intermediate Level Education, and Warrant Officer Senior Service Education. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Tactical Operations Officer Course, Aviation Maintenance Officer Course, the AH-64 Maintenance Test Pilot Course and is a Maintenance Examiner on the AH-64D/E.
CW5 Burg’s military decorations and awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Valorous Unit Citation, and the Army Superior Unit Award. He is authorized to wear the Combat Action Badge and is a Master Army Aviator rated in the AH-64D/E Apache helicopter. He has also been awarded the Order of St. Michael (Silver Award).
CW5 Burg is married to the former Elvia A. Cruz Ramirez, and they are blessed with two sons, Memo and Mateo.
