The ID card section is closed on the second Thursday of every month from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. for training.

The ID Cards/DEERS section is an appointment-based system. We accept walk-ins on a first come, first-served basis as manpower allows. Appointments can be scheduled 90 days prior to card expiration. YOU CAN SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT BY VISITING THE RAPIDS ID CARD OFFICE ONLINE. Note: Each family member requiring service must have their own individual appointment.
Sign-in for walk-ins are accepted from 7:30 - 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Please be advised that walk-ins may be closed at any time due to increased volume and may be restricted by priority. Note: Lost, stolen, or confiscated CACs require a Military Police report for replacement. You can obtain this report at the Provost Marshal Office, located at Bldg. 5001 Andrews Ave.
Sponsor Information
Sponsor must be present unless:

Uniformed Services ID Card Renewal

Shoppers cards
- A letter from a doctor stating the need for assistance. The letter must include:
- The name of the person needing assistance (military card holder).
- The name of the person selected to assist (1 person per family).
- Statement of need for assistance.
- Must be signed and dated within the last 30 days.
- The person appointed to assist on Fort Rucker must have a valid driver’s license
Note: If a minor dependent (under 18) resides away from the sponsor and the caregiver does not have a military ID, a Shopper's Assistance ID can be issued to the caregiver. This authorizes them to shop on behalf of the minor.
Applicants Unable to Appear in Person (Medical Reasons)
In situations where an individual is medically unable to appear in person to obtain a new ID card, the following procedure must be followed.
- Doctor's Letter: Explaining the specific medical reason the applicant cannot appear.
- Power of Attorney (POA): Original or certified true copy (General or Special).
- Applicant's Photo: One recent color photograph (8x10 or 5x7).
- Identification Requirements:
- If providing applicant's Old ID (current or expired): Only one (1) additional valid form of ID is required.
- If Old ID is not available: Two (2) valid forms of ID are required
Incapacitated Dependent (Over 21) – 100% Disabled American Veteran (DAV)
For incapacitated children over the age of 21 sponsored by a 100% DAV, the following mandatory documentation must be provided:
- Helpless Child Letter: Official determination letter from the VA recognizing the child's "helpless" status.
- Medical Sufficiency Statement: Physician’s statement detailing the diagnosis date. (Note: For this specific category, the disability does not need to have occurred before age 21).
- Identification: Two (2) valid forms of ID for the applicant.
DOD Civilians, Contractors and NAF Employees
