CSM Jeremy W. Bunkley
Command Sergeant Major Jeremy Bunkley was born and raised in Rome, New York, and joined the Army in 2004. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and served as a Human Resources Information Systems Management Specialist (42F) until 2008, when he reclassified his military occupational specialty to become a Public Affairs Broadcast Specialist (46R).
CSM Bunkley’s assignments and leadership positions include; Promotions Clerk (22nd PSB, I Corps, JBLM, WA), Reassignments Clerk, Arrival/Departure Airfield Control Group (ADACG) shift NCO and ADACG shift NCOIC (38th PSB, 1st Personnel Command, Vilseck, GM), Audio/Visual Team Leader, Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant (3rd MISB, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Ft. Bragg, NC), Public Affairs Operations NCO (HQ, XVIII Airborne Corps, Ft. Bragg, NC), Public Affairs Operations NCO, Social Media and Command Information Chief (U.S. Military Academy at West Point, West Point, NY), U.S. Army Training With Industry Fellow (National Football League, New York, NY), Public Affairs NCOIC (1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, Ft. Bliss, TX), First Sergeant (5th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, I Corps, JBLM, WA), Chief Public Affairs NCO (V Corps, Ft. Knox, KY), Chief Public Affairs NCO (U.S. Army Central, Shaw AFB, SC), and Public Affairs Senior Enlisted Advisor (U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB, FL).
CSM Bunkley deployed four times, two in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and one each in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, as well as a rotational tour in support of ATLANTIC RESOLVE.
CSM Bunkley is a graduate of all levels of NCOPDS requisite to his grade and rank, as well as a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne School, U.S. Army Air Assault School, Intermediate Public Affairs Specialist Course, Joint Intermediate Public Affairs Course, Joint Senior Public Affairs Course, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Course, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Master Resiliency Trainer course, Company Commander/First Sergeant Pre-Command Course, Battalion Pre-Command Course, and the Battalion Command Sergeants Major Development Course. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Thomas Edison State University.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with six Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with four Oak Leaf Clusters), U.S. Army Parachutist Badge, U.S. Army Air Assault Badge, Royal Thai Army Parachutist Badge, and Noble Patron of Armor. Additionally, he is the recipient of the 2017 SGM Dawn Kilpatrick Memorial AUSA Scholarship and the Army Public Affairs Association 2018 Master Sgt. Marcia Triggs Award for Excellence.
CSM Bunkley currently resides in Natick, Massachusetts with his wife and his two sons.
