Local Community

Fort Hunter Liggett is located in the Central Coast region of California, surrounded by oak savannah, grassy hills, and mountain ranges. FHL is bounded by the Los Padres National Forest on the northern and western boundaries, and is only 23 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 35 miles from Big Sur. Monterey is 85 miles north, and the San Francisco Bay area is 3-1/2 hours away. To the south is the Paso Robles wine country, San Luis Obispo, and Pismo Beach.
