Col. James C. Sullivan
Colonel James C. Sullivan began serving as a Soldier in 1991 by enlisting in the Army Reserve. He was commissioned in 1998 through the ROTC program at Towson University. His first assignment was to Fort Lewis, Washington, and the 25th Infantry Division (Light) is where he served as a rifle platoon leader and rifle company executive officer in 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment. He subsequently served in the 504th Military Police Battalion and 1st Battalion 506th Infantry Regiment (Air Assault) as the S6.
In 2004, Colonel Sullivan was assigned to the HQ, 35th Infantry Division (ID) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, as the S3 Plans Officer, then took command of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 35th ID. In 2008 he attended the Intermediate Level Education (ILE) at the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth.
In 2009 Colonel Sullivan was stationed at then-Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group as the S6. His next duty was at the US Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS), then-Fort Bragg. There he served as the Deputy G6 before being selected to become the Assistant Chief of Staff, G6.
Following his assignment at USAJFKSWCS, Colonel Sullivan was stationed at then-Fort Hood, Texas, to be the S3 for the 11th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade (TTSB). In 2017 he moved to Korea to become a Deputy Division chief in US Forces Korea J6. From June, 2018 to May, 2020 COL Sullivan commanded the 304th Expeditionary Signal Battalion (ESB), also in South Korea. After command, he served as the Deputy Brigade Commander of the 516th Signal Brigade.
Colonel Sullivan is a graduate of the US Army Ranger, Airborne and Air Assault courses, the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Joint Combined Warfighting School, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Towson University, and a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Kansas.
