Command Sgt. Maj. Jarvis Dunham

SGM Jarvis M. Dunham is the command sergeant major at U.S. Army Garrison Alaska, Fort Greely. 
Dunham, a native of North Carolina, entered the United States Army in June 1996 and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Dunham has served in several leadership positions to include: COLT Team Chief, 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery, Fort Hood, Texas; Troop Fire Support NCO, 2nd Battalion, 20th Field Artillery (MLRS), Fort Hood, Texas; Battalion Fire Support NCO, 1st Battalion (Attack), 2nd Aviation Regiment, Camp Page, South Korea; Battalion Fire Support NCO, 1st Battalion (Attack), 4th Aviation Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; Brigade Fire Support Observer Controller/ Trainer, Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, Louisiana; G34 Fires Operation's Sergeant, United States Army Central; First Sergeant, Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 30th Field Artillery; and most recently served as the Fire Operations Sergeant Major, Combined Joint Task Force 
-Operation Inherent Resolve. He most recently served as the Joint Operations Sergeant Major in the Ill Armored Corps at Fort Hood, Texas.

Dunham's military education includes the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, United States Army Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officers Course, Class 7-05, Anti-terrorism Level 11 Course, Observer/Controller Trainer Academy, Fire Support Coordinator Course, Joint Firepower Course, Joint Air Operations Command and Control Course, Joint Operational Fires and Effects Course, First Sergeants Course, and Sergeants Major Academy Class 69. 

Dunham holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts and a Certification in Homeland Security from Excelsior College in Albany, New York. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Homeland Security Cyber from American Military University and Certification in Strategic Studies from the University of California, Berkeley Extension. Dunham's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (5th OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal (2nd OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1st Silver OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1st Silver OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), Iraq Campaign Medal (4 Bronze Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara. 

Dunham is married to the former Jennifer Oakley of Crestview, Florida. They have two children; Mila and Madison.
