USAG Bavaria - Grafenwoehr/Vilseck Community

> Mission

U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria is headquartered in Grafenwoehr. U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr was redesignated as U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria in 2013. USAG Bavaria now oversees Army installations in Grafenwoehr, Vilseck, Hohenfels and Garmisch. The U.S. Army installation at Vilseck is 20 minutes away. USAG Bavaria encompasses and provides service to U.S. Army installations in Grafenwoehr (Tower Barracks), Vilseck (Rose Barracks), Hohenfels (Hohenfels Training Area) and Garmisch (Artillery Kaserne and Sheridan Barracks). The installations at Grafenwoehr and Vilseck provide primary support to the Joint Multinational Training Command and the 2nd Cavalry Regiment.
 

> Joint Multinational Training Command

Headquartered in Grafenwoehr, the 7th Army Training Command is the U.S. Army's largest oversees training command. Its combat maneuver and simulation centers, live-fire ranges, classrooms and facilities provide realistic, tailor-made training solutions to U.S., NATO and partner-nation units and leaders. The 7th Army ATC is a unified command consisting of seven directorates: Combined Arms Training CenterGrafenwoehr Training AreaInternational Special Training CentreJoint Multinational Readiness CenterJoint Multinational Simulation Center7th Army NCO Academy and Training Support Activity Europe.
 

> 2nd Cavalry Regiment

The 2nd Cavalry Regimentconsists of six squadrons and is located at Rose Barracks in Vilseck. 2CR, known as the 2D Dragoons, traces its lineage back to the early part of the 19th century. 2CR has the distinction of being the longest continuously serving Regiment in the U.S. Army. The Regimental Motto is Toujours Prêt (French: 'Always Ready') - remember your regiment and follow your officers. USAG Bavaria - Hohenfels Community

> Mission

The USAG Bavaria installation in Hohenfels consists of one installation. It is about an hour south of Grafenwoehr and Vilseck and about two and a half hours north of Garmisch. USAG Bavaria - Hohenfels includes the Hohenfels Training Area, which is is 163 km2 large. It provides premier installation management support and services that enhance the readiness of joint and multinational forces, ensures the highest level of quality of life in a secure and sustainable environment, and enables Soldiers to soldier, Leaders to lead, and Families to grow. It supports two primary mission partners: The Joint Multinational Readiness Center and the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment.
 

> Joint Multinational Readiness Center

The ​​​​​​​Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels falls under the leadership of the Joint Multinational Training Command, which is headquartered in Grafenwoehr on Tower Barracks.The JMRC is a Europe-based combat training center — with a world-wide mobile training capability — trains leaders, staffs and units up to brigade combat teams and multinational partners, to dominate in the conduct of unified land operations anywhere in the world, now and in the future.
 

> 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment

The 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, or 1-4 IN, serves as Opposition Forces (OPFOR) during training rotations. It conducts combat operations throughout the full spectrum of the contemporary operational environment in order to provide realistic joint and combined arms training conditions focused on developing Soldiers, leaders, and units for success on current and future battlefields throughout U.S. Army Europe.

USAG Bavaria - Garmisch Community

> Mission

The USAG Bavaria installation in Garmisch includes Sheridan Barracks and Artillery Kaserne. USAG Bavaria - Garmisch Community supports three mission partners: the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies at Sheridan Kaserne, the NATO School in nearby Oberammergau, and the Armed Forces Recreation Center. The garrison also supports numerous smaller units and facilities spread across Southern Bavaria.
 

> George C. Marshall European Center

The George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies , located on Sheridan Kaserne, is a unique U.S. Department of Defense and German Ministry of Defense security and defense studies institute. Since its dedication in 1993, its mission has been to create a more stable security environment by advancing democratic institutions and relationships. With an international faculty and staff from 10 partner nations, the Center offers five graduate-level resident courses, outreach events such as conferences, seminars and workshops, a research program, foreign area studies and foreign language training.
 

> NATO School

The NATO School located in Oberammergau , about 12 miles to the northwest of Garmisch, is NATO's key training facility on the operational level. Since 1953, the NATO School has trained and educated members of the Alliance as well as personnel from partner nations. The mission of the NATO School is to conduct courses, training and seminars in support of NATO's current and developing strategy and policy. This includes cooperation and dialogue with military and civilian personnel from Non-NATO nations. The School strives for top-down clarity of vision in the educational process, especially during the present.
