Mission: The 385th MP BN prepares for worldwide operations in support of our Nation while simultaneously providing proficient Military Police capabilities to protect, preserve , and enable 3ID combat power; concurrently providing professional Law Enforcement to shape Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield's safe and secure communities.
Unit History: The 385th Military Police Battalion was organized on 28 October 1944. It was re-organized and re-designated on 1 August 1946 as the 385th Military Police Service Battalion Headquarters. The Battalion was inactivated on 1 November 1948 in Germany and later re-designated on 9 December 1954 as the 385th Military Police Battalion. It was allotted to the Regular Army and activated on 9 February 1955 in Boeblingen, Germany assigned to the Seventh Army, per US Army Europe General Order 1. Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment and its subordinate A, B, and C Companies were relocated on 19 October 1955 to Wilkins Barracks, Kornwestheim, Germany. The 385th Military Police Battalion was inactivated on 15 June 1993 in Germany. The 385th Military Police Battalion was later activated on 17 April 2006 at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The 3rd Military Police Battalion (Provisional) was concurrently inactivated with its headquarters element reflagged as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 385th Military Police Battalion.
The 385th Military Police Battalion has supported operations in WWII, Operation Desert Storm, and in Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan 2006-08 and 2011-12. The Detachment received the Army Superior Unit Award and Campaign Streamer for Rhineland 1944-45. The Detachment received the Army Valorous Unit Award and Campaign Streamer for its deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2011-2012. On 1 October 2014, the Detachment completed a two year Defense CBRNE Response Force Mission in support of NORTHCOM.

Mission: HHD provides ready, deployable, and survivable Mission Command and Support capabilities to the elements of the 385th Military Police Battalion ISO worldwide contingency operations and Fort Stewart installation Law Enforcement and Force Protection missions.
Company History:
Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment of the 385th Military Police Battalion was constituted 28 October 1944 in the Army of the United States as the 385th Military Police Battalion. 93rd MP Detachment Working Dogs
"Guardians of the Night"
Mission: The 93d Military Working Dogs (MWD) Detachment performs explosives and narcotics detection and specialized security patrols in support of FORCOM and U.S. Secret Service missions. 93d MWD conducts continuous and specialized law enforcement, force protection, and community assistance on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. On order, deploy MWD teams worldwide to support contingency operations.
Company History: Constituted 7 July 1952 in the Regular Army of the United States as the 93rd Militrary Police Criminal Investigation Detachment.
- Activated 1 August 1952 at Camp Stewart, Georgia.
- Reorganized and redesigned 1 May 1954 as the 93rd Military Police Detachment.
- Activated 26 July 1967 at Fort Riley, Kansas.

139th MP Company
"Warlords"
Mission: 139th Military Police Company conducts individual, collective and leader training at FSGA/HAAF enhancing deployment readiness accross all Military Police disciplines in support of 385th MP BN, 16th MP BDE, and 3ID. The 139th Military Police Company provides daily professional law enforcement, force protection, and installation access control support to Soldiers, Families, and Civilians of Fort Stewart military community.
Company History: The 139th MP Company was constituted on 13 April 1944 and subsequently activated on 1 June 1944 in Aversa, Italy. The unit participated in the Rome-Arno Campaign in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater and was inactivated on 15 November 1945 in Cecian, Italy after World War II ended. On 31 July 1947, the 139th MP Company was re-designated as the 357th MP Company and assigned to the United States Army Reserves, Fifth U.S. Army. On 15 September 1964, The 139th MP Company was reconstituted in the Regular Army and activated on 24 September 1964 at Fort Benning, Georgia and was inactivated on 1 January 1983. The 139th MP Company was once again activated on 17 November 2007 at Fort Stewart Georgia, and deployed from 17 February 2009 thru 15 February 2010 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 09-10. The 139th MP Company was once again called to duty and deployed from 18 January thru 15 September 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 13-14. From October 2014 to March 2016, a small detachment from the 139th MP Company deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
197th MP Detachment
"Peacemakers"
Mission: The 197th Military Police Detachment conducts continuous and specialized law enforcement, force protection, and community assistance on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. On order, deploys modular law enforcement specialized teams worldwide to support installation law enforcement requirements and contingency operations.
Company History: Constituted 23 October 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 197th Militrary Police Patoon.
- Activated 25 November 1943 at Santa Lucia, British West Indies.
- Reorganized and redesigned 1 November 1944 as the 197th Military Police Company.
- Reorganized and redesigned 28 February 1946 as the 197th Military Police Guard Platoon.
- Inactivated 3 June 1946 at Santa Lucia, British West Indes.
- Redesigned 21 March 1952 as the 197th Military Police Guardhouse and Stockade Detachment, allotted to the Regular Army, and activated at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
- Reorganized 1 October 1954 as the 197th Military Police Detachment.
- Inactivated 1 October 1978 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
- Activated 16 October 2012 at Fort Stewart, Georgia.
293rd MP Company
"Warriors"
Mission: 293rd Military Police Company is prepared to rapidly deploy for Homland Defence Quick Responce Force in support of Task Force Griffin and ARNORTH. Simultaneously provide professional law enforcement and installation access control to Fort Stewart community.
Company History: The 293rd Military Police Company was activated on 30 December 1942 in England. During the Normandy Invasion, the company conducted security and Enemy Prisoners of War operations between France and Germany. The Company inactivated in June 1968 at Fort Ord, California. In June 1972, the unit reactivated at Fort Meade, MD and deployed to the New Cumberland Army Depot in Harrisburg, PA, to assist in civil disturbance control during the trial of the “Harrisburg 8”. In December 1981, the unit deployed to Fort Chaffee, AR in support of the Cuban Refugee Operation. In August 1985, the unit was deployed to Seneca Army Depot, NY to augment security against anti-nuclear demonstrators.
From June to November 1986, the unit participated in Joint Task Force Bravo, Palmerola Air Base, Honduras. From October 1990 to April 1991, the unit deployed to Saudi Arabia as part of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The unit provided law enforcement support, convoy security, MSR security, battlefield circulation control and performed those missions necessary to safeguard human lives and protect vital facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
The 293rd MP Co relocated to Fort Stewart, Georgia in August of 1992 and as a result of their high standards was selected to conduct operations other than war is support of Hurricane Andrew relief in Homestead, FL. From August 1994 to January 1995, the unit deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in support of Operation Sea Signal, controlling an influx of refugees into the United States. From June 1996 to April 1997, the unit deployed to Bosnia in support of Operations Joint Endeavor/ Joint Guard where they completed over 1100 missions and ensuring the implementation of the Dayton Peace Accord.
From August 1998 to May 1999 a platoon deployed to Kuwait as part of Task Force 3-15 and Intrinsic Action. The company responded to a not-notice deployment in response to the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon working with the Defense Protective Service providing security and force protection for the Pentagon from September 2001 to April 2002. The unit again deployed from March 2004 to 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where it conducted convoy security and force protection. The unit’s most recent deployment was from August 2009 to August 2010 in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom. From June 2014 to June 2016 the unit stood ready to answer the nation’s call as an integral part of the Nation’s premier Defense Chemical Response Force (DCRF). The 293rd Military Police Company is currently continuing its tradition of excellence as it provides professional law enforcement and force protection support to the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield communities.
546th MP Company
"Regulators"
Mission: Conduct mission command for all task organized units conducting or supporting military police operations within its Area of Responsibility (AOR). Integrates capabilities from all three military police disciplines (police operations, detention operations, and security and mobility support) and integrates police intelligence operations into all military police missions. The Headquarters Detachment provides limited local security and unit mission command functions for the brigade. Provides administrative and logistical support for all task organized units.
Company History: The 546th Military Police Company was constituted on 7 June 1943 in the United States Army as 1st Platoon, 444th Military Police Prisoner of War Processing Company and activated 19 June 1943 in North Africa. The company was then redesignated 2 December 1944 as the 227th Military Prisoner of War Processing Platoon and inactivated 10 November 1945 in Italy. The company was again redesignated on 10 December 1946 as the 546th Military Police Platoon and inactivated 18 September 1947 in Italy.
On 20 January 1949 the 546th was reactivated at Fort Sill, Oklahoma then redesignated 11 March 1950 as the 546th Military Police Company. On 8 September 1954 it was allotted as the 546th Military Police Company. It was then inactivated 1 January 1983 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
The unit was then reactivated 13 March 2005 at Fort Stewart, Georgia as the 546th Military Police Guard Company and redesignated 1 October 2005 as the 546th Military Police Company Combat Support. On 14 February 2007 the 546th Military Police Company deployed to Afghanistan for 15 months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After its return, the 546th Military Police Company deployed to Iraq from 28 December 2009 to 25 July 2010, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom IX-XI. The 546th Military Police Company supported the Department of Defense DCRF mission from 1 October 2012 to 30 September 2013. The 546th Military Police Company deployed Detachment to Kuwait in support of Law Enforcement Operations from 6 December 2014 to 23 August 2014. The company is currently assigned the Defense CBRN Response Force.
549th MP Company
"Tropic Enforcers"
Mission: The 549th Military Police Company builds ready teams and prepared Leaders in order to support the Fort Stewart's garrison law enforcement mission, installation access control, and combat support to geographic combatant commanders.
Company History: The 549th military police company was constituted on March 15, 1945 and was activated on April 10, 1945 in Hawaii. The company was inactivated April 18, 1946 following the conclusion of World War II. The company was reactivated on January 15, 1947 as the 549th military police company Canal Zone, republic of panama. On September 27, 1949, the company was reorganized and predesignated the 549th military police company. On October 14, 1951, the 549th military police company was allotted to the regular army. On February 15, 1953, the company was reorganized and predesignated as the 549th military police service company. On august 28, 1954, the company was inactivated at fort Amador, republic of panama.
On February 13, 1956, the company was predesignated as the 549th military police company. On April 10, 1956, the company activated at fort Golick, republic of panama. On September 1, 1984, the company relocated from fort Golick to fort Davis, republic of panama.
On December 19, 1989, the unit was alerted for operation just cause and served in task force Atlantic with the 7th infantry division (light). During just cause, the company conducted MP missions in colon, coco solo and riot hate to secure the gambol dam and gating locks. Following the cessation of hostilities the unit trained the new Panamanian police and participated in operation promote liberty. For their efforts, the company received the army superior unit award. In September 1995, the company relocated to fort Clayton, republic of panama.
On December 18, 1998 the company relocated from fort Clayton, republic of panama to fort Stewart, Georgia under the 3d military police battalion, 3d infantry division (mechanized).
The 549th MP Company deployed to Bosnia for 6 months in June 2001 as part of stabilization force 11. After their return, the company then deployed to Iraq in 2003 in support of operation Iraqi freedom 1. The 549th again deployed to Mosul, Iraq from November 2005 to 2006 and conducted police training teams in support of oaf 05-07.
From April 2008 to July 2009, the company deployed to cry east in Afghanistan in support of operation enduring freedom 08-09. From January 2012 to January 2013, the company deployed to cry east in Afghanistan in support of operation enduring freedom 12. The company recently returned on 6 October 2017 from conducting a 9 month deployment to Germany, conducting law enforcement operations in support of operation Atlantic resolve.
