COVID-19 Volunteer Opportunities

ALL VOLUNTEERS WILL BE PROVIDED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT BY THE REQUESTING AGENCY OR THE GARRISON.

In an effort to keep our community safe, volunteer oversees or personally performs outpatient pharmacy functions for the full range of pharmaceuticals provided in the medical treatment facility (MTF) to include controlled, investigative, highly potent, and other drugs requiring special handling. Must have and provide necessary pharmaceutical accreditation and licensure.

Dedicated volunteer will answer phones; direct clients to designated areas in Soldier Family and Transition Assistance Center, Bldg. 4973. Provide information to clients about services at Army Community Service (ACS), Fort Stewart and surrounding areas; organize office; assist with office inventory. The use of a vehicle is not required to perform these duties and is specifically prohibited. Volunteers will be provided with all necessary training and guidance by requesting agency. Volunteer orientation will be provided by the Army Community Service Volunteer Coordinators. 1100-1400 Wednesday - Friday (excluding Federal Holidays), A great way of supporting our military community during a time of need.

Purpose:

- Ensure military families' needs are met when faced with an emergency.

Responsibilities:

- Support the Red Cross mission.

- Maintain strict confidentiality of all case notes, names and other personal information in accordance with Red Cross policies.

- Understand and apply Service to Armed Forces(SAF) policies, procedures and protocols related to Red Cross client services consistently and correctly.

- Support the follow up process to include making follow-up calls to military members and/or families to determine if their needs are met, provide other follow-up actions as needed for complete and timely client services.

- Acquire a working knowledge of local, state and federal resources aiding military members, families and veterans.

- Maintain professionalism and conduct assisted in Red Cross policy.

- Successful American Red Cross back ground check.

- Complete required national training and locally developed orientation.

Purpose:

- Provide excellent customer service to enhance the blood donor experience, executing donor temperature screening on potential donors prior to their entry into the blood drive. This position serves as gatekeeper by providing additional screening the American Red Cross has implemented in the interest of the safety of the blood supply, recipients, other donors, staff, volunteers and general public health regarding COVID-2019 outbreaks.

Responsibilities:

- This position and Temp-taking screening station is part of additional screening the American Red Cross has implemented in the interest of the safety of the blood supply, recipients, other donors, staff, volunteers and general public health regarding COVID-2019 outbreaks.

- Greet donors and model excellent customer service behaviors. Manage donor flow attempt taking station to ensure only donors passing temp screen are permitted access.

- Explain purpose of the temperature screen todonors and ensure they understand the reason for deferral if applicable. Direct donor to next step of donation oroptions for future donations if deferred.

Blood Donor Screeners will use the following supplies:

- Thermometer and probe covers, if applicable

- Trash basket

- Gloves

- Hand sanitizer

- Sani-cloths or Cavi-cide

- Wear gloves at all times and change them between each donor.

- Use a new probe cover on an electronic thermometer or a new disposable thermometer for each donor.

- Will not repeat temperatures for any reason.

- Will insert the thermometer into the donor's mouth, hold the probe, read the temperature and discard the probe cover or the disposable thermometer.

- Check to see if the donor's temperature is acceptable.

- Advise the donor if above 99.5 degrees F to defer from donating on current day.

- Will clean the electronic thermometer, probe and probe wiring between each person with Sani-cloth or Cavi-cide.

Qualifications:

- Must be 18 years of age or older, no exceptions.

- Ability to display the utmost professionalism and communication skills using diplomacy and tact.

- Extremely comfortable working with people from diverse communities and backgrounds.

Duties

Six months to a year, this is a requirement and volunteer should be able to stay the duration if not longer as long as the service is met.

Daily duties include but not limited to:

- Must be able to work in all weather conditions (Hot and Humid/Cold and Rainy).

- Checking in after-hours customers and collecting fees.

Volunteer Front Desk Receptionist

Greet customers, answer phones and provide building directory assistance as a Volunteer Front Desk Receptionist at the main entrance of the Audie Murphy Soldier Service Center (SSC) Bldg. 253.

Past experience shows we service about an average of 400 walk-in customers and 20 to50 phone directory assistance calls per day, as well as providing ID Card checks for all customers for the building (6,000 to 8,000 per week).

The use of a vehicle is not required to perform these duties and is specifically prohibited.

Volunteer must be an ID card holder.

Volunteers will be provided with all necessary training and guidance by requesting agency.

Volunteer orientation will be provided by the Army Community Service Volunteer Coordinators.

The Center Representative Volunteer will assist with day-to-day operations, programs, events, and activities of a USO center.

General Summary This position may provide direct customer service to the USO’s key constituents: our nation’s troops and their families. Minor volunteers operating in a Group or Special Event position must be at least 10 years of age and accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or USO-approved group chaperones at all times. These volunteers are expected to serve the entirety of their volunteer shifts and perform the duties outlined in this job description.

Required Documentation A parent or legal guardian must sign a Release and Waiver of Liability. Additionally, the USO-approved group chaperones must sign an Acknowledgement of Receipt of the USO Code of Conduct for Adults Working with Minors and this job description.

Volunteer Social Media Assistant Position Description

General Summary The Volunteer Social Media Assistant will assist staff members with managing his or her center’s social media, which can include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the center’s website, or other social media platforms.

Requirements

• Must be proficient with social media management understanding brevity, hashtags, and trending topics

• Only permissible Facebook Admin Role for a volunteer is “Content Creator”

• Commitment to keep login credentials private, and not share logins with anyone

General Summary:: The volunteer will be supporting the America’s 2nd Harvest Kids Café at Hunter Army Airfield where they will serve children a pre-packaged daily meal. Individuals may serve daily or sign up for select days of the week based on their availability. Dates/times of need: June 5 - July 30 from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm.

Requirements

• The volunteer will be required to attend a 30 min training session (online) where they will learn responsibilities for administrative paperwork, food distribution, and records keeping to comply with program compliance directed by USDA.

• Able to present a caring and respectful manner to all people regardless of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, and age

• Have strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills

• Be punctual, organized and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to the changing needs of the organization.

The Volunteer Community General Supporter will assist with various installation events i.e. Food Drives, Check Points, Review and Collect Documents, Set-Up and Tear down of USAG, HAAF community events.
Requirements
· Volunteers must be able to bend, lift and carry approximately 15lbs-20lbs or more.
Duties
· Volunteers will help pack vehicles with boxes filled with various food items while drivers remain in their vehicles as they are ground-guided thru the pick-up line.

· Review and Collect completed documents
· Set-up and tear down of various events for the HAAF Military Community

CERT role play volunteers must wear old clothes or clothes that can get dirty and bring a source of hydration or water and food or snacks.
