Command Sgt. Maj. Michael W. Narvid, Air Traffic Services Command

Command Sgt. Maj. Michael W. Narvid enlisted in the United States Army in 1999 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Rucker, Alabama, where he trained as an aviation operations specialist. Narvid is currently serving as the command sergeant major for the 164th Theater Airfield Operations Group, Fort Rucker.

Narvid’s previous assignments include 4-123rd Aviation Regiment, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Echo Company, 160th SOAR (A), Republic of Korea; HHC, 160th SOAR (A), 1-160th SOAR (A), 2-160th SOAR (A), Special Operations Aviation Training Battalion (SOATB), 2-17th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and 3-160th SOAR (A), Hunter Army Air Field, Georgia.

Narvid is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeant’s Major Academy Class 68 and holds a Master of Science in Management and a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Business and Management from Excelsior College. He is a graduate of the Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Pathfinder Course, Combat Skills Course, SERE-C, Tactical Combatives Course, and Antiterrorism Program Manger Course.

Narvid participated in numerous operations, including 10 deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and other overseas contingency operations. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Combat Action Badge, Master Aviation Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and the Order of Saint Michael Bronze Award.
