Fort Polk is located in the piney woods of central Louisiana.  We are home to the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk, the Army's premier training center. Together, Soldiers and families and civilians are dedicated to "Forging the Warrior Spirit."

There are about 8,000 Soldiers and 12,000 Family members living on and off-post, plus 6,000 civilian and contract employees working on the installation and more than 40,000 retirees live in Central Louisiana. The Fort Polk Garrison provides many of the same types of services expected from any small town. Law enforcement, fire protection, sports and recreational facilities, religious activities, child and youth programs are just a small sample of the support and services we provide every day. Louisiana's culture is unique with Cajun/Creole festivals year round. We encourage our community to enjoy these regional activities
