COL Brian A. Sansom

Colonel Sansom was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in a military family. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1995 and later graduated from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma in 2003, commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the Chemical Corps.
His operational assignments include service in Europe, the Middle East, and the Republic of Korea. He deployed twice, first with the 1st Infantry Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and later to Afghanistan as a Current Operations Planner for Headquarters, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF)/Resolute Support (RS).
He has held key leadership and staff positions at every echelon, including Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Battalion Executive Officer, and Brigade S3. His senior assignments include serving as Chief of Protection and Division CBRN Officer, 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-US Combined Division in Korea, Commander, 23rd CBRN Battalion, Camp Humphreys, Korea, and Chemical Branch Chief, U.S. Army Human Resources Command. Most recently, he was a Resident Student at the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
He holds a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, a Master of Military Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), U.S. Army Command and General Staff, a Master of Science in Environmental Management from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Cameron University. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, among others.
His badges include the Combat Action Badge and Parachutist Badge. He is also authorized to wear the German Armed Forces Efficiency Badge and the Belgian Parachutist Badge. Colonel Sansom is a proud inductee of the Ancient Order of the Dragon.
Colonel Sansom is married to Ria Sansom, and they have one son, Alexander.
