USAG Daegu Command Sgt. Major Jonathon J. Blue

Command Sgt. Maj. Blue enlisted as a track mechanic (63Y) in the United States Army from Tucson, Arizona in 1993. He graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.  In 2005, he reclassified as a Career Counselor (79S).

His most recent assignment was as the Command Sergeant Major of Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. CSM Blue’s previous assignments include: 1st Cavalry Division, 1st Armored Division, 4th Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Division, Recruiting and Retention School, 45th Sustainment Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He participated in three combat tours, two tours in Iraq (2003-2004, 2005-2006) and one tour in Afghanistan (2011-2012).

CSM Blue is a Class 66 graduate of the United States Army Sergeant’s Major Academy.  His military education include all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development System earning Honor Graduate and Distinguished Leader awards in the Advanced and Senior Leader Courses. Additional education include, Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command Courses, Jungle School, Combatives, Lean Six Sigma, Scrum Master, Air Assault School, and several more. His civilian education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Family Development from American Military University and is currently pursuing a dual-Masters degree in Homeland Security and Environmental Safety.

CSM Blue’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, The Meritorious Unit Citation, The Army Superior Unit Award, and several others. He is awarded the Career Counselor Badge, Air Assault Badge, the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, and the German Armed Forces Marksmanship Badge (Schutzenschnur). CSM Blue is a recipient of the Adjutant General Corps’ Horatio Gates and Benjamin Harrison Medals, as well as the Field Artillery Order of Saint Barbara. CSM Blue was also recognized as the Department of the Army Enlisted Instructor of the Year (2009).

CSM Blue is married to the former Miss Rochelle Amenta of Corona, California. They have one daughter, Janessa, age 15.
