Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Howard
LTC Isaac Howard assumed duties as the Garrison Commander, Fort Anderson-Pinn-Hill, in June, 2026.
LTC Howard enlisted in 1998 as an Armor Crewman after graduating high school in Pearisburg, Virginia. He attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and was assigned to 1-68 Armor, 3-4 Infantry Division, from 1999-2000.
In 2000, LTC Howard was accepted to the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, which he attended until 2001. That fall, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant of Armor in 2005.
Since commissioning, LTC Howard has served in various positions at Fort Stewart, Georgia; Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Carson, Colorado; and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He has led two platoons, commanded two companies, and served in staff positions such as the Battalion S4 Logistics Officer, Squadron S3 Operations Officer, and Squadron Executive Officer. He has also instructed at the Maneuver Captains Career Course and the Command and General Staff School.
LTC Howard has attended Professional Military Education at Fort Benning, Georgia, and Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. He has deployed to numerous combat zones including two deployments to Iraq, one to Afghanistan, and one to Kosovo. He also served as an exchange officer at the Canadian Army Headquarters in Ottawa, Canada.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medals, the NATO Medal, and the Ranger Tab
