CSM John Fritz

CSM Fritz assumed duties as the U.S. Army Garrison – Redstone Arsenal Command Sergeant Major Nov. 1, 2024. In his role, he oversees support services for more than 65 tenant organizations that include the four-star Army Materiel Command, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, the FBI and other federal and DOD agencies that operate from the installation. CSM John E. Fritz is a native of Knoxville, TN. He entered the United States Army in January of 1998.  CSM Fritz completed his Basic Training at Fort Moore, GA and his Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Novosel, AL.

CSM Fritz has served in a variety of leadership positions to include Facility Chief “Hooper Stagefield” Fort Novosel, AL; the USAACE CSM’s enlisted assistant; G3 Aviation NCOIC, 25th Infantry Division forward deployed Iraq; Platoon Sergeant 3-58th Aviation Regiment, Illesheim, Germany forward deployed Iraq; Joint Contingency Command Post NCOIC U.S. Army Africa Longare, Italy; 1SG 1-4 Cavalry, 4th CAB; 1SG HHC, 4th CAB; and CSM 404th ASB Fort Carson, Colorado; Support Operations SGM 277 ASB forward deployed Afghanistan; the Support Operations NCOIC G4 Eighth Army, Camp Humphreys Korea; 10th CAB Operations Sergeants Major Fort Drum, NY; CSM 1-10 Attack Battalion Fort Drum, NY forward deployed Afghanistan.

CSM Fritz's military and civilian education includes the Basic Leader Course (BLC), the Advanced Leader Course (ALC), the Senior Leader Course (SLC), and United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (class 69), Pathfinder School, Air-Assault School, First Sergeants Course, Battle Staff Course, Instructor Course and Master Resilience Training Course.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership & Workforce Development from the Command & General Staff College (CGSC); special studies in Agriculture Management, and currently pursuing a Master of Science in Plant & Soil sciences from the Alabama A&M University.

CSM Fritz's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the NATO Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Master Air Crewmember Badge.
