Mission

The HQ, JRTC G-1 implements effective policy and leads programs that build sustained personnel readiness in Fort Polk’s greatest assets, its people. The G-1 takes responsibility for execution of assigned functions and achievement to support of the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk Commanding General’s guidance and vision.  The G1 executes our assigned functions and responsibilities to achieve our mission.  The HQ, JRTC G1 recognizes that our efforts directly affect the lives of the Soldiers, Civilians, and Families at Fort Polk and is committed to protecting the Army greatest assets, as well as ensuring our efforts build sustained personnel readiness which supports the Secretary of the Army and CSA's number one priority.

Strength Management

Responsible for the strength management and accountability of all Officer, Warrant, and Enlisted personnel on the installation.  This section is responsible to facilitate units with replacements for non-programmed losses identifying critical shortages among the Fort Polk FORSCOM formations and communicating to commanders the responses from HRC representatives on resolutions or challenges to man our units IAW current Army Manning Guidance (AMG).  PSMB manages the requisitioning of personnel for the JRTC with HRC Account managers for FORSCOM units only

Essential Personnel Services

Responsible for the management and administration of Installation level military human resource programs.  Responsible for any award, action, or request that requires the Commanding General signature, or requires submission to a higher echelon command, such as FORSCOM and HRC.

Plans and Operations

This section develops, coordinates, and analyzes the effectiveness and synchronicity of a variety of current and future planning efforts for the G1, specifically relating to JRTC operational missions and HR initiatives. Below are functions of the Plans and Operations section

The Pregnancy Postpartum Physical Training is designed to improve the readiness of pregnant and postpartum Soldiers by focusing the maintaining of fitness level and ensure rapid recovery after delivery.  

The participants in the program continue for 180 days after delivery focusing on regaining their pre-pregnancy fitness levels for successful integration back to unit physical readiness training, with the goals of achieving Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) and Army body composition standards.

 

SHARP

Mission: Support commanders and Soldiers by identifying trends, tailoring prevention efforts and pursuing active interventions; promoting a climate free of sexual harassment and assault; and preserving Soldiers dignity and unit readiness.

Goal:  Elimination of sexual harassment and sexual assaults on the Installation and promote a culture in which all SMs, DACs, and Family members have the necessary skills to intervene and prevent sexual assault. A prevention focused climate will eliminate social norms that lead to sexual harassment and sexual assault.

What we do: The Fort Polk Installation SHARP Professionals are  responsible for coordinating the local implementation of the Army’s SHARP Program. We work closely with installation victim advocates, victims of sexual assault and other installation first responders.

Retention

Post Retention monitors the Commanding General Retention Program IAW AR 601-280. Supervises all retention actions within JRTC and Fort Polk. Responsible for all Reserve and National Guard transition contracting for the FPLA.

Provides JRTC retention stats to the Commanding General, PCSM, and CoS regularly and informs the command group of any updates, changes or issues that will impact the retention program.

Conducts weekly transition briefs to all ETSing Soldiers (Enlisted and Officer). Conducts in-briefs to incoming Soldiers.  Assists finance with any enlisted bonuses issues and assists transition with service computation errors. 

Directly supports 1-5 AVN, and 41st Transportation Company (TC) due to no authorized career counselors.  Supports rotational unit’s retention program when requested. 

Stand-alone department within the G1 that reports all retention issues and receives operational guidance directly from FORSCOM.

EO

Senior Equal Opportunity Advisor to the JRTC and Fort Polk, responsible for the dissemination of EO policies and guidance to the Leaders, Soldiers, and Civilians assigned to FPLA. 

Prepares senior leadership by providing equal opportunity solutions and tools designed to address mission impacting issues.

Provide mentorship, guidance and technical oversight  to all unit level appointed EO Leaders on all matters involving equal opportunity assigned to JRTC and Fort Polk.

Plans, coordinates, and conducts quarterly Equal Opportunity Leaders Course. 

Responsible for the execution of ethnic observances to increase cultural and diversity awareness of the FPLA community

Responsible for the Outreach Awards and the Total Army Awards Program with a goal to foster mission accomplishment by recognizing excellence of military and civilian members
