U.S. Army Garrison- Bavaria Reception Center
Mission Statement: The Installation Reception Center facilitates the reception, staging, and onward movement of U.S. Army Soldiers and Families arriving to USAG Bavaria to ensure coordinated integration, readiness, and care.
Purpose: We are here to facilitate your reception and in-processing schedule as well as liaise between inbound Soldiers and Families and their Sponsors and/or gaining unit. For inquiries regarding arrival information, please contact the IRC Email distro at usarmy.bavaria.7ATC-IRC@army.mil
Note: All Soldiers arriving via Patriot Express (PE) with a projected assignment to Grafenwoehr and Vilseck will arrive at the Welcome Center on Tower Barracks for Day 0 reception processing.
Commercial Flight Arrivals
Note: All Soldiers arriving via Commercial Airlines will arrive at a Civilian commercial airport and must pre-coordinate with their sponsor and/or gaining unit for transportation to the Soldier’s assigned duty location.
All German civilian airports contain an Information Desk / Service Center located in the Arrivals Hall where details regarding transportation options can be retrieved.
**SOLDIERS ASSIGNED TO GRAFENWOEHR AND VILSECK WILL REPORT TO THE MILITARY PERSONNEL DIVISION (MPD) ON TOWER BARRACKS (BLDG 244) WITHIN 24 HOURS OR THE NEXT AVAILABLE DUTY DAY TO COMPLETE THEIR RECEPTION PROCESSING**
Of note, Soldiers are still required to report to MPD on training holidays. MPD is closed on weekends and Federal Holidays only.
Am I authorized to continue Leave after arriving in Country?
No. Upon arrival, you are required to sign in with your gaining unit S1 to avoid discrepancies in TLA and/or COLA pay entitlements.

Can I take PTDY?
PTDY is not authorized in OCONUS locations. Upon arrival, Families will check in to Army Lodging Grafenwoehr if their pre-coordinated government-leased housing is not ready for occupancy IAW the Garrison’s Plane-to-Pillow policy. Geo-bachelors must report to housing to determine their eligibility for privatized German leased housing.
How do I get from the airport to my assigned duty station?
How soon after I arrive can I drive a Rental Car in Europe?
As soon as you have received your USAREUR Driver’s License from the Driver’s License Office on Tower Barracks, Bldg 301. It’s recommended that you complete the online portion of the USAREUR Driver’s Training Exam prior to your arrival in country.
