Dwayne D. Key II 

Dwayne D. Key II assumed duties as the Deputy to the Garrison Commander for USAG Bavaria in January 2024.

Prior to becoming the DGC, he served as the the deputy garrison site manager at Brunssum, the Netherlands for U.S. Army Garrison Benelux, in January 2022. From August 2021 to January 2022, he served as the Army Pre-Positioned Stock program manager and Dülmen Tower Barracks site manager.

Key began his Department of the Army civilian career as a plans and operations specialist and later Future Operations branch chief for USAG Benelux, leading the planning, coordination and execution efforts to support Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) deployment rotations in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, support to DEFENDER Europe exercises and Benelux crisis response to COVID-19.

Key holds a Master’s in Public Administration Degree in Management from Upper Iowa University and retired from the Army in July 2016 following more than 21 years of service in both continental U.S. and outside continental U.S. assignments, serving two tours with NATO and two deployments to Baghdad, Iraq, receiving numerous awards and decorations throughout his career including the Joint Meritorious Service Medal and Bronze Star. He is a graduate of various civilian and military courses and schools. He has also completed the Civilian Education System Advanced and other civilian and military leadership courses.
