2-6 Air and Missile Defense Test Detachment bids farewell to commander

The 2-6 Air and Missile Defense Test Detachment at White Sands Missile Range bid farewell to Commander Capt. Lukas Hartlage during a Relinquishment of Responsibility ceremony July 15 at the Organ Mountain Parade Field.

Lt. Col. Mike Goglia, Commander of the 2-6 Air Defense Artillery, welcomed guests and Soldiers to the ceremony.

“Where others may be reactive firefighting from one crisis to the other, Capt. Hartlage is a continuously engaged commander maintaining the strength of his command,” Goglia said. “Excellent command doesn’t happen by accident, and it clearly doesn’t maintain itself, especially in a relatively isolated location like WSMR.”

Hartlage thanked several people and organizations including the Soldiers for their support during his command.

“Thank you for the opportunity to lead some of the finest group of people this country has to offer,” Hartlage said. “Being entrusted to lead these Soldiers has been among the greatest privileges of my life.”

The 2-6 Air and Missile Defense Test Detachment provides expertise and knowledge in support of Air and Missile Defense modernization programs: to conduct developmental tests, flight tests, tactics, techniques and procedures development, maintenance, and logistics demonstrations.
