While under hostile fire in Laghman Province, Afghanistan, he fearlessly exposed himself to accurate enemy small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades. Completely exposed to enemy fire and with disregard to his personal safety, he sacrificed his shelter ensuring his soldiers were able to fully utilize the limited available cover.
