New gate near Smoots pond on Smoots Road.
Smoots pond to be gated soon
Effective June 1, 2021, Smoots pond access on Fort A.P. Hill will be gated. The new Smoots pond gate will be opened at approximately 6:30 AM and will be closed approximately 1 hour after sunset.
Recreational fishermen are required to go to Fort A.P. Hill iSportsman website and purchase a fishing permit to fish the pond and others on the garrison.
Motorists, please be aware of this new gate and watch for stopped or turning vehicles on Smoots Road (Rout 640) in Caroline County.
