Fort A.P. Hill open for hunting season 2020-21.

Thank you for being an active member of Fort A.P. Hill’s hunting, fishing and trapping programs. Hunting permits for the 2020-2021 season are now available for purchase. Youth day is open September 26 (No Scouting on Youth day).

 

Scouting is open September 25 and September 28 to October 2.

Main Gate will be closed for inbound traffic only for paving operations from September 2, 2020 through October 7, 2020. Entry into the garrison will be through Range Gate.

 

The visitor control center will be closed during this time. The DEERS office will remain open by appointment only. Vetting will be conducted at the Range Gate. Security personnel will screen individuals and issue paper passes until October 7, 2020.

 

Main Gate will be an exit only from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. After 6 p.m. visitors will have to exit the garrison by Range Gate.

It is your responsibility to read and understand these regulations in their entirety.  To receive clarification or interpretation of these regulations, users should contact the Fish and Wildlife Branch (804) 633-8984. 

Because of live-fire training both past and present, it is possible to encounter munitions while recreating at Fort A.P. Hill.  It is your responsibility to be aware of your surroundings, stay within your assigned hunting area, and know the proper procedures in the event that you discover a munition. 

Know and follow the 3Rs of Explosive Safety.  All Hunters wishing to hunt in the Controlled Access Areas must meet additional safety requirements outlined in the Hunting, Trapping & Fishing Regulations.
