Outdoor Recreation Department will showcase the outdoor recreation opportunities available on the installation for Department of Defense affiliated personnel and non-affiliated civilians this Saturday, Aug. 1, at Fort Stewart’s Holbrook Pond recreation area on Georgia Highway 144 East.

MWR hosts outdoor recreation open house

Fort Stewart’s Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation’s
Outdoor Recreation Department will showcase the outdoor recreation opportunities available on the installation for Department of Defense affiliated personnel and non-affiliated civilians this Saturday, Aug. 1, at Fort Stewart’s Holbrook Pond recreation area on Georgia Highway 144 East.
The event will feature demonstrations for archery, hunting, skeet and trap shooting, kayaking, and canoeing. Hands-on activities will include ax throwing, guided nature walks, paintball, archery, and more. Information booths on how to hunt and fish on the installation, forest management, alligator trapping, and more will also be available.The focal event of the outdoor recreation open house—the alligator hunting tag lottery—is planned for noon. Entertainment will be provided by the 3rd ID Rock Band. Privately owned weapons are prohibited.
