Vehicle Registration

The Sembach Vehicle Registration office provides comprehensive registration services:

• Initial Registration

• Renewal Registration

• Vehicle Transfers

• Agent Owner Processing

• Temporary Plates

• Temporary-to-Permanent Plates

• Non-Operational Status

• Deregistration

Note: Vehicle inspections are NOT conducted at this location.

• Safety Inspections: All vehicles shipped from the United States or purchased used within Germany must pass a safety inspection before registration can be finalized. Review requirements on the Rheinland-Pfalz Safety Inspection Portal.

• Licensing & Fuel Privileges: DoW ID cardholders are eligible to obtain a USAREUR driver's license. This license authorizes you to operate USAREUR-plated or German-registered vehicles, and permits the tax-free purchase of a limited ration of gasoline or diesel fuel. To apply, visit the LRC Bavaria Driver's Testing Page.

Personnel departing the military community, or individuals who have lost official logistical support, are required to return their physical license plates to Vehicle Registration for proper disposal and deregistration.
