Command Sergeant Major Kim Mendez

Command Sergeant Major Kim Mendez enlisted into the United States Army as an Infantryman and earned the MOS of 11B upon his completion of One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA.

He has served in every leadership position from Fire Team Leader thru Command Sergeant Major and has numerous deployments to Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan. His assignments include TANGO Security Force, Bravo Company 2-187th, Charlie Company 1-501st Airborne, 101st G3 Current Operations, Charlie Company 3-502nd, Charlie Company 1-21, NCO Academy and Charlie Company 1-14, Bravo and Charlie Companies 4-9, Bravo Company 1-19, Attack Company 2-1, HHB 72D Field Artillery Brigade, Operations SGM 2/3D CR, CSM for 1/3D CR, interim 3D CR RCSM, and has been serving as the 3-353rd CSM since January 2020.

CSM Mendez’s military education includes, the Basic, Advanced, and Senior Leader Courses, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Basic Instructor Training Course, Small Group Instructor Course, FBCB2 Leader OPNET Course, Land Warrior Training Course, Joint Readiness Training Center Observer Controller Course, Battle Staff Course, Modern Army Combatives Program level I, Anti-Terrorism Officer Basic Course, Close Quarter Marksmanship Course, Stryker Pre-Command Course, Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course, Master Resilience Training Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 66 and Battalion Pre-Command Course. His civilian education includes an Associate’s in Counter Terrorism and a Bachelor’s in Homeland Security both from American Public University.

His military awards include, the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Bronze Star Medal (5th award), Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), Army Commendation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (5th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal (1 campaign star), Korean Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 campaign stars), Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 campaign stars), Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 8), NATO Afghanistan Ribbon (1 bronze star), Multi-National Force and Observers Medal, and Meritorious Unit Commendation (4th award). He has also been awarded the Order of Saint Maurice and Order of St. George for distinguished contributions to the Infantry, and Armor and Cavalry.
