Lieutenant Colonel Ian Davis

LTC Ian R. Davis enlisted in the U.S. Army in July of 1998, as a Heavy Equipment Operator in B Co, 46th Engineer Battalion, Fort Rucker, Alabama. In August 2001, he was commissioned in the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) through Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, Georgia.  Following the Engineer Officer Basic Course he was assigned to the 70th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.   LTC Davis served as a platoon leader in A Company, then deployed as the HHC Executive Officer to Iraq in support of the Global War on Terror.  While deployed, he was selected as the Aide de Camp for BG Robert Crear, Task Force Restore Iraqi Oil, USACE. 

He was assigned as the Battalion Rear Detachment Commander during the 70th Engineer Battalion’s second deployment to Iraq.  From 2006-2009, LTC Davis was assigned as the BDE Engineer for 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker) and as the Company Commander for 73rd Engineer Company, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.  He deployed to Iraq from 2008-2009 as a Company Commander and Brigade Engineer.  From 2009-2012, he performed duties as a Small Group Leader for the Engineer Captain’s Career Course, Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  From 2013-2015, LTC Davis was the Operations Officer and Executive Officer for the 5th Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. 

From 2015-2017, he served as the Deputy Commander for Walla Walla District, USACE.  From 2017-2018, LTC Davis was a Staff Officer in the J9 at the NATO Joint Force Headquarters, Brunssum, Netherlands (JFCBS). From May to August 2018, he deployed to Afghanistan as a liaison officer for the JFCBS Commander.  In December 2018, LTC Davis assumed command of the 46th Engineer Battalion, Fort Polk, LA. 

LTC Davis graduated from Northern Arizona University with Bachelor of Science in business education, and Webster’s University with a Master’s of Art in public administration. His military training includes the Engineer Officer Basic Course, the Engineer Captains Career Course, the Joint Engineer Operations Course, Joint Firepower Course, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College.  He is a registered Project Management Professional.

His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, The Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Three awards of The Meritorious Service Medal, Three awards of the Army Commendation Medal, and three awards of the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medals, Four awards of the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Non Article 5 NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge and the Bronze Order of the DE Fleury Medal. 

LTC Davis is married to the former Nancy A. Cory of Roseville, California and they have three adult children, two sons; Devin and Liam, and a daughter, Emma
