Command Sgt. Maj. Curtis Anderson, 1st Battalion, 222d Aviation Regiment

CSM Curtis Anderson was born in Portland, Jamaica, and enlisted in the active Army in November 1997. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and later completed the Aircraft Pneudraulics Repairer Course (15H) at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas, in May 1998.

His past military assignments include the 1st Armored Division, Hanua, Germany; 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Humphreys, Korea; 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, Katterbach, Germany; 128th  Aviation Brigade, Fort Eustis, Virginia; Joint Task Force Bravo, Soto Cano, Honduras; and the Technology Development Directorate/Systems Integration and Demonstration (TDD/SID), Fort Eustis, Virginia. His most recent assignment was Command Sergeant Major for 4-6 Air Cavalry Squadron, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington, and has accrued over 60 months of deployments to multiple named operations.

CSM Anderson’s leadership positions include Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Instructor/Writer, Pneudraulics Branch Chief, Senior Training Developer, First Sergeant, Senior Research Development Test and Evaluation NCO, Senior Enlisted Leader, and Command Sergeant Major.

His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science (Cum laude).  His military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Aviation Logistics Manager’s Course, Aviation Accident Prevention Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course (DG), and the United States Army Sergeants Major Course.

CSM Anderson’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4th Award), Air Medal with “C” Device, Army Commendation Medal (7th Award), Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal (1 BSS), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 BSS), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 SSS), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Overseas Ribbon (numeral 8), and the Order of St. Michael (Bronze Medal).

CSM Anderson has two children, Curtis and Caleigh.
