Lt. Col. Larry L. Munk, U.S. Army Dental Clinic Command
Lt. Col. Larry Munk was raised on Long Island, New York. He completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1992. In 1996, he earned a DDS degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed a one-year General Dentistry Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in 1999. Thereafter, he owned a private practice dental office until 2009, and in October of that year, he commissioned as a captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps.
Munk’s military education includes the AMEDD Officer Basic and Advanced Courses as well as the Command and General Staff College in residence. He completed the Army’s two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 2017. He holds a board certification from the American Board of General Dentistry.
His previous duty stations include Fort Bragg; Eglin Air Force Base, Florida; and Joint Base Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Munk’s first deployment was as the 4th Brigade Dental Surgeon with the 82nd Airborne Division to the southern region of Afghanistan in 2010. He redeployed twice more as the 7th SFG (A) dental surgeon, being tasked as the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Dental Surgeon from 2012- 2013.
Munk’s awards include the Army Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Parachute Badge.
