Nicole McKenzie, Mission Installation Contracting Command, Fort Novosel

Nicole McKenzie has served in leadership positions of increasing complexity and responsibility since 2010 and has a reputation for mentoring and providing leadership in organizations with highly visible and public requirements. As a mentor, McKenzie focuses intently on professional development, on an individual level and for the organization. In her nearly 15 years as a civil servant, McKenzie has gained experience in practically every area of government contracting. McKenzie is a DAWIA Level III certified professional with significant experience in the application and interpretation of federal procurement regulations, along with extensive operational experience in acquisition planning, solicitation development, contract award, contract administration, and contract closeout.

As director, U.S. Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command – Fort Novosel, McKenzie serves as the senior advisor to commanders and other key officials on all aspect of contracting and is responsible for planning, managing, and executing a comprehensive contracting and acquisition program to meet the needs of installation garrison, installation tenant activities, and other units assigned.

Prior to becoming the director of MICC – Fort Novosel, McKenzie served as the deputy director of the Office of Acquisitions, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. As deputy director with NIEHS, McKenzie served as the alter ego to the director, responsible for the management and leadership of the acquisition program, providing senior strategic planning and guidance support to key stakeholders in all manners related acquisition activities. Prior to her time with NIEHS, McKenzie served as the deputy assistant director with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement. As deputy assistant director, she was responsible for all contractual requirements for ICE’s Northeast Region, along with the nation-wide contracting needs of the ICE Health Services Corp. McKenzie served as a business advisor and strategic planner to a wide range of customers and leadership, advising on complex and unique contractual issues and concerns, acquisition regulations, acquisition planning, and acquisition processes. McKenzie has also served as contracting officer and team lead with the Environmental Protection Agency, where she began her government career as an outstanding scholar hire.

McKenzie is a graduate of Marymount University where she received her master’s degree in business administration.
