Soldiers who ride motorcycles must attend a motorcycle safety course and obtain a motorcycle safety foundation card. This card must be in possession of military motorcycle operators whenever riding on Fort Novosel.

The Advanced Rider Course replaces the Sport Bike and Experienced Rider courses to offer sport bike operators more opportunities to complete their follow-on and sustainment training! prospective riders can login to airs to register for the class that suits their duty schedule (CAC required; must sign on from .MIL network).

Motorcycles must have two rearview mirrors (one on each side) and headlights turned on at all times while in operation.

IAW AR 385-10 you will be required to wear: A DOT approved helmet (provided for Basic Rider Course), long trousers, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and full fingered gloves, and foot protection (sturdy over-the-ankle footwear that affords protection for the feet and ankles, boots are highly recommended). The local MSF instructor has final authority in determining whether foot protection and other PPE worn is acceptable during training.

While wearing duty uniform and riding motorcycles, leather coats and chaps are highly recommended, but must be taken off after parking.

Motorcycle riders are also encouraged to select personal protective equipment designed with abrasion resistant materials and impact-absorbing padding that incorporates fluorescent colors and retro reflective material and employ other visibility-enhancing equipment such as headlight modulators, braking alerts, etc.

Proper eye protection is required. It is defined as wrap-around glasses, ballistic glasses meeting military speculations, impact or shatter-resistant goggles, or a full face shield properly attached to the helmet and worn in the lowered position. A motorcycle windshield or clear-looking vinyl or plastic windshield or fairing is NOT considered proper eye protection.

The helmet will not be used as headgear when the Soldier is not operating the motorcycle.

Note: No club affiliation patches are authorized while wearing the uniform and all manufacturing logos must be in good taste.
