Command Sgt. Maj. James H. Ligons , 128th Aviation Brigade

Command Sgt. Maj. James H. Ligons is a native of Aiken, S.C. He grew up in a family of nine, seven boys and two girls.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Observation Helicopter Mechanic (OH-58A/C) in August 1995. His assignments and deployments include: Camp Mobile, Korea; Fort Hood, Texas; Buedenging, Germany; Fort Eustis, Virginia; Fort Drum, New York; Camp Humphreys, Korea; and Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Command Sgt. Maj. Ligons’ military and civilian education includes all levels of NCOES and USASMA Class 69, First Sergeant Course, Equal Opportunity Advisor Course-, Commanders Safety course, Advance Resource Management course, Program Managers course, System Approach to Training course, Small Group Instructor course, Basic Instructor Training course, Combatives Level 1, Combat Life Saver course, Command Language Program German Headstart and Field Sanitation course. He has earned a BS in Professional Aeronautics and a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Science through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  He has obtained his Airframe and Powerplant license and is a lifetime member of AUSA.

Command Sgt. Maj. Ligons’ awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Bronze OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 Bronze OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), Presidential Unit Citation Award, Valorous Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award),  the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star , Kosovo Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Force Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Course Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (Numeral 5), NATO Medal (Bronze Star).  He also holds the Master Aviation Badge.

Command Sgt. Maj. Ligons is married to Tiefany; they have a son, Jazz, and a daughter, Arya.
