Lt. Col. Travis Betz, 1-58th Airfield Operations Battalion
Lt. Col. Travis Betz was born in Gainesville, Florida, and entered active duty in 2004 after graduating from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in logistics and intermodal transportation.
His previous assignments include professor of military science at West Virginia University; commander, Flight Company for Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade; combat aviation brigade executive officer for 1st Armored Division (1AD); 3-501st Assault Helicopter Battalion (AHB) Operations officer and executive officer at 1AD; commander, B Company, 4-3 AHB; commander, D Company, 2-3 General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB); adjutant, 2-3 GSAB; and platoon leader, B Company, 2-2 AHB at 2nd Infantry Division.
Betz’s duty locations include Fort Rucker, Alabama; Morgantown, West Virginia; Fort Benning, Georgia; Fort Bliss, Texas; Newport, Rhode Island; Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; and Seoul Air Base, Republic of Korea with deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Atlantic Resolve.
His military education includes the Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, Aviation Officer Basic Course, Aviation Captain’s Career Course, UH60 L/M Qualification Courses, Basic Airborne Qualification, Air Assault School, and the U.S. Naval War College of Command and Staff where he earned a master’s degree in defense and strategic studies.
