Col. Steven B. Waldrop, Director, Directorate of Simulation

COL Steven B Waldrop was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Aviation in 1998. Following graduation, he became a Regular Army Aviation Officer and Attack Helicopter Pilot. He holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Systems Management from the University of Alabama, a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the Air Command & Staff College.

His command and leadership assignments include: Attack Aviation Platoon Leader, B Troop, 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Brigade, Camp Eagle, Korea; D Co. Commander, 1-229th Aviation Regiment, Fort Bragg, NC; B Company Commander, 1-291st Aviation Training Support Battalion, Salt Lake City, UT; and Deputy Brigade Commander, 2nd Brigade, 84th Training Command, Birmingham, AL.

His key staff and support assignments include: Deputy Brigade S3 & Chief of Plans, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Bragg, NC; Exercise Director and Chief of Operations, US Army Aviation Center of Excellence (AVCOE) Directorate of Simulations, Fort Novosel, AL; He previously served with the newly created 75th Innovation Command as the G3 in direct support to Army Futures Command; He currently serves as the Director of Simulations at Fort Novosel, AL.

His military awards include: The Bronze Star medal with 2 OLC, the Air Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 OLC, the Army Commendation Medal with 5 OLC, The Army Achievement Medal with 3 OLC, Global War on Terror Expeditionary and Service Medals, The Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 3 Stars, the Iraq Campaign Medal with 1 Star, the Army Service Ribbon, The Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 3, The Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Award with 3 OLC, the Combat Action Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Aviator’s Badge. He is also a recipient of the Bronze Order of Saint Michael.
