Welcome to the Wiregrass

Fort Novosel, Ala., is an excellent place to live and work. Fort Novosel covers about 63,100 acres of southeast Alabama countryside in an area known as the Wiregrass, named for a wild grass peculiar to the region. Much of the main post is in Dale County, with the remaining government-owned and leased acreage in Coffee, Geneva, and Houston Counties. Most of the countryside is rolling and wooded.

An abundance of lakes and streams and proximity to the Gulf of Mexico make this a fisherman’s paradise. Fort Novosel is about 80 miles south-southeast of Montgomery, the state capital.  It is just 20 miles northwest of the city of Dothan, home of the National Peanut Festival.  Fort Novosel is surrounded by the communities of Daleville, Enterprise, and Ozark, which have strong ties to the post.

Daleville is proud to be Fort Novosel's closest neighbor and staunch supporter of the hi-tech aviation training that prepares pilots for service on the modern battlefield. Daleville is equally pleased to be known as the home of the Army Aviation Museum , which houses one of the largest helicopter collections in the world and is one of the premier tourist attractions in Alabama. A quiet community with the benefits of a rural atmosphere, Daleville values its senior citizens facility, its churches and a strong Department of Public Safety which provides police, fire, and rescue services. The close proximity to the sunny beaches of north Florida and southwest Alabama are a plus for residents and visitors to Daleville.

Dothan is one of the region’s most progressive cities. The community offers a mild winter climate, affordable housing, low property taxes and a wide variety of products and services that includes health care, education, shopping and cultural entertainment. Located a few short miles from the state lines of Florida and Georgia, the area embraces the best that life has to offer, providing its residents not only modern conveniences and amenities of much larger cities, but also retains the charm and friendliness of the South. More than just a place to build a better life, Dothan has built-in advantages that also make it better for business: strategic location, easy access, strong work ethic, trained work force, sound and diversified economy, first rate educational institutions and a pro-business tax structure.

Enterprise is a thriving community founded on the principle that with the right mix of people, adversity can easily turn into diversity.  We are home to a diverse mix of business, agriculture, and industry.  Our community has a rich military heritage thanks to our close relationship and proximity to neighboring Fort Novosel, the Home of Army Aviation.

In 2010, based on new US Census data, Enterprise was named Alabama's "Boom Town," boasting a 25.3% growth over 10 years.  Our 26,574 person population allows us to provide a quality of life that integrates small town togetherness with urban vitality.  Our community offers many different recreational and educational opportunities and our housing market has options for everyone.

A great place to live, play, raise a family and build a business or spend your retirement years. Ozark has a diversified economy, mild winter weather and is convenient to several of the South's metropolitan areas, as well as the beautiful white beaches of Florida.

Complementing the city's inviting business climate and tax structure is a work force equipped with career training from Ozark's educational institutions and those within commuting distance.
