Civilian Professional of the Month/Quarter/Year

Presidio of Monterey Professional of the Month/Year/Quarter Program recognizes individuals in the garrison workforce who demonstrate superior work effort, job knowledge, and customer service. Orr professionals are nominated by their director for the Professional of the Month Award.  Each quarter the monthly winners compete for Professional of the Quarter and a cash prize. Professional of the Quarter winners will compete for Professional of the Year and a final cash prize.

America Campos

Ms. America Campos’s accomplishments were recognized from among the outstanding candidates for Civilian of the Quarter as having had the most significant impact on the U.S. Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey. Ms. Campos’s selfless service, professionalism, extraordinary performance and unwavering commitment to the mission are truly noteworthy and set the standard for others to emulate.

          Issac P. Johnson           

Firefighter Issac Johnson’s exceptional leadership, dedication, and professionalism directly enabled the successful execution of firefighter duties and department safety by managing the Fire Department’s Personal Protection Equipment program. His work ethic and is a shining example to all members of the department.  

 

Professional of the Month - June 2022

Holly L Keller  

As Child and Youth Services Coordinator, Ms. Holly Keller ensures our military community’s children are well cared for and that her staff has the support need to effectively execute their mission. Ms. Keller has effectively managed COVID response protocols, run events and programs, and worked with senior leadership to improve pay for direct care staff. Ms. Keller’s positive attitude, willingness to teach and coach, and ability to distill complex issues into manageable action items brings great credit upon her, the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, the U.S. Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey and the United States Army.

Ian Santa Cruz

Lt. Ian Santa Cruz's exceptional leadership, knowledge and determination directly prepared his teams for the upcoming Wildland Fire season. Lt. Santa Cruz’s creativity and "outside the box" thinking produced high quality training and overcame obstacles that stood in the way. Lt. Santa Cruz’s achievements,  dedication and expertise bring credit to himself, the Presidio of Monterey Fire Department, the Directorate of Emergency Services, the United States Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey and the United States Army.

 

Professional of the Month - May 2022

Mary R. Towers

Under Ms. Mary Towers leadership, DPW implemented three major mandated enterprise software programs. Her efforts eliminated a major deficiency, visible at IMCOM, in DPW's operations. Ms. Towers' ensured a new high-visibility work order management application’s "On-Schedule" implementation, facilitating real time maintenance status for customer submitted work orders. With three of four positions vacant, including the division chief, she willingly accepted the challenge to implement an extensive IMCOM operations order.

 

Professional of the Month - April 2022

Inok L. Antunes 

Ms. Inok Antunes demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism and an extraordinary commitment to customer service. Her management of the Housing Division's Quality Assurance program ensured Presidio met the IMCOM Housing Campaign's directive, requiring inspections for thousands of work orders. During Housing Division's staffing shortage, Ms. Antunes willingly accepted additional duties by assisting in resolving resident issues, training teammates on work order follow-up and home visits. Despite accepting a new position, Ms. Antunes continued to ensure Military Families have the best possible housing available. 

 

Professional of the Month - April 2022

Rachel Kennedy

Ms. Rachel Kennedy’s significant achievements and support to Support Services Division highlight her exceptional leadership in Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation. While NSD is short two key positions in finance and IT services, Ms. Kennedy ensured continued pay processing, financial and IT requirements, and internal control/audit compliance needs were all met. Her leadership encouraged and supported her team and maintained service capabilities which directly sustained mission success.

 

Professional of the Month - March 2022

America N. Campos 

Ms. America N. Campos demonstrated personal courage and clear thinking when a child was choking on a piece of bread. Ms. Campos, a fairly new CYPA, took action immediately. She put him over her leg, gave him a few back blows and then swept the bread out clearing his airway. saving the child from choking. The child was able to return to eating and was unstressed. The family was deeply grateful for Ms. Campos' quick action. Her knowledge and quick action saved the child from a potentially deadly situation within seconds.

Charles A. Lyons

Mr. Charles Lyons’ vital support to Army Community Service ensured special needs families and Soldiers received immediate care, often at their most vulnerable moments.  He is a multitasker team player with additional roles in Exceptional Family Member Program and Army Emergency Relief while managing duties in Relocation Services.

Gerald C. Ocampo

Professional of the Month - November 2021

             Gerald C. Ocampo           

Mr. Gerald Ocampo's proactive, can-do approach has enhanced DHR operations. He coordinated with NEC and contractors to resolve connectivity and functionality for the DHR and ASAP copy machines, ensuring continuation of vital operations. His expertise in LRC procedures procured a printer and two iPads at no cost to the Garrison. The two iPads enable maximum effectiveness for the DEERS kiosk at MPD. He mentored numerous Garrison personnel on processing documents and making successful email transitions. 

 

Professional of the Month - October 2021

               Xochitl Gonzalez-Hernandez              

Ms. Xochitl Gonzalez-Hernandez aided multiple childcare rooms, supported the staff training program and room ratio management. Ms. Gonzalez-Hernandez led a highly effective training session focusing on behavioral child care. Her efforts have improved quality of care for the children and staff efficiency. Ms. Gonzalez-Hernandez has established herself as an integral part of the Child and Youth Services team, and is a shining example of the Army Values in action. 

  

Professional of the Month - November 2020

Daniel M. Dieli

After returning from Italy, Mr. Daniel Dieli entered the garrison as a Management Analyst and took quick action to ensure the Garrison’s Annual Managers’ Internal Control Program requirements were met. He successfully completed all requirements three weeks ahead of schedule.

  

  

  

Professional of the Month - October 2020

Douglas M. Weber

Mr. Douglas Weber was a major asset to Administrative Services Division (ASD) while acting as ASD Chief during the Division Chief's absence. He insured that mail and all other ASD services continued without interruption, he trained the intern professional on daily ASD functions, and conducted all Freedom of Information Act trainings and requests admirably.

Erika R. Marx

Ms. Erika Marx distinguished herself in volunteering her expertise in coordinating with multiple agencies to ensure that the Garrison Commander was fully prepared to defend and maintain the validity of the Presidio of Monterey Water Credits critical to the Mission and the livelihood of our Service Members.

The willingness of Mr. Dennis to train and assist his fellow professionals, provide the utmost in customer service, while performing his normal duties have made excellent contributions to accomplishing the mission of the Military Personnel Division and Directorate of Human Resources.  His willingness to always exceed the standard when assisting Soldiers and Staff have been exceptional.

Desiree G. Lowry

Ms. Desiree Lowry, Army Community Service Family Advocacy New Parent Support Nurse, continued the promotion of resilience to the military community during this period of COVID-19.  Ms. Lowry's  actions have had a positive impact on the Directorate of Family and Morale and the military community through her innovative programming and creative virtual outreach.

Professional of the Month - May 2020

Ivan R. Barcinas

Mr. Barcinas was instrumental with the installation of generators and manual transfer switches in five buildings to ensure emergency power was available during an unscheduled power outage, as well as involved in installing watch towers, shelters, spikes and lighting systems at the access control points on the Presidio of Monterey to prevent terrorism and unauthorized access onto the installation.

  

 

Professional of the Month - April 2020

Penney C. Beltran

Ms. Penney Beltran’s contributions and assigned duties far exceed her existing position as an apprentice.  With two months in her position as the temporary Management Support Assistant for the Directorate of Human Resources, her contributions and impact are considerable.  She is instrumental in the successful transition of the workforce to teleworking in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She initiated implementation of GEARS for completing the required documentation for the entire workforce within a short duration.

Isaac A. Bermudez

Mr. Bermudez's loyalty and dedication to duty are directly responsible for the continued success of the Directorate of Public Works Business Operations and Integration Division. Mr. Bermudez successfully executed the duties of a Division staffed at only 33% of TDA in addition to his own duties. Mr. Bermudez created a streamlined process for the sending of utility sales reports, prepared the annual ISR-MC report, the quarterly ISR-I, ISR-S, and PAR reports, and received and processed 81 work requests.

  

 

Professional of the Month - February 2020

Francis (Tony) Cortez

Mr. Cortez performed his duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. His flawless attention to detail in collecting 1,167 specimens during intense and time sensitive Holiday Block Leave Recovery operations resulted in achieving the second lowest discrepancy rate in the Army for January 2020, and directly supported the Army’s zero tolerance for drug use policy. Additionally, his constant devotion to the training and professional growth of others has been instrumental in increasing the overall readiness of the Presidio of Monterey. Mr. Cortez personal initiative and unswerving devotion to duty reflect distinct credit upon him, the Army Substance Abuse Program, United States Army Garrison, Presidio of Monterey, and the United States Army.

Sarah L. Rodriguez

Ms. Rodriguez’ professional knowledge and determined efforts have made extraordinary contributions to the efficient functioning of the Military Personnel Division's Personnel Actions Section. Jacob L. Seethoff

SGT Jacob Seethoff volunteered to attend a series of critical training courses and utilized his newly acquired knowledge and skills to train the guard force to be better prepared and trained to facilitate medical emergencies and threats to the installation.  He also volunteered to assume the challenge of conducting NCIC III checks for the installation visitor program.  His efficiency and attention to detail resulted in NCIC III processing time reduced to 2 days with a significant error check rate reduction.  SGT Seethoff's efforts improved customer service provided by the guard force to the installation workforce and visitors to PoM.

  

 

Professional of the Month - December 2019

Amber B. Hill

Ms. Amber Hill served as the Garrison Action Officer for the rewrite and resubmission of the U.S. Army Signal Activity, Camp Roberts (USASA CR) Change Management Plan, submitted to IMCOM, Training-Directorate on 7 November 2019. Ms. Hill skillfully wrote the executive summary, purpose and mission analysis.  She defined with precise detail the 14-page main body of the Plan that coincided closely with storyline of the eight supporting enclosures.  Ms. Hill also served as the editor-in-chief for the entire Change Management Plan to include all of its components and supporting documents, such as DPW’s and DES’ Manpower Analysis and RM’s Cost Benefit Analysis.  Ms. Hill’s unwavering dedication to duty reflects great credit upon her, the U.S. Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey, and the United States Army.

Wilfredo S. Sepulveda

Mr. Sepulveda's dedication and commitment to the safety and preparedness of the Presidio of Monterey Base Complex population and the local community has been outstanding.  He has provided fire safety training to over 10,000 people this year.  In a testament to his commitment he has provided this training not only in English but also in Spanish to ensure he provides the best possible customer service and effectively communicates this training to his audience.
