Mission

The 16th Military Police Brigade conducts police, security, civil affairs and detention operations across a full range of global missions in order to prevent and reduce irregular, terrorist, and criminal threats to the XVIII Airborne Corps readiness and mission effectiveness.

 

About the 16th MP BDE

Constituted on March 23, 1966, in the regular Army as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 16th Military Police Group. Activated May 20, 1966, at Fort G. G. Meade, Maryland. Reorganized and re-designated July 16, 1981, as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 16th Military Police Brigade.

The 16th Military Police Brigade is the most diverse military police brigade in the United States. Located at Fort Liberty, NC; Fort Campbell, KY; Fort Drum, NY; Fort Polk, LA; and Fort Stewart, GA. The 16th Military Police Brigade provides garrison law enforcement and force protection to all if its communities and continues training in its combat support mission. The 16th Military Police Brigade stands ready to support the XVIII Airborne Corps and respond to any worldwide contingency mission.
