The 82nd Division was constituted in the National Army on August 5, 1917, and was organized on August 25, 1917, at Camp Gordon, Georgia. Since its initial members came from all 48 states, the unit acquired the nickname "All American," which is the basis for its famed “AA” shoulder patch.

Activated in June 2013, the 419th Contracting Support Brigade located at Fort Bragg, N.C., enhances installation and operational contracting support to Army commands. The mission of the Airborne and Special Operations Test Directorate is to plan, execute, and report on assigned Five Year Test Programs and Customer Tests for Joint airborne and Special Operations Forces to support doctrine development and the materiel acquisition process. On order, it supports developmental testing using test parachutists and conducts airdrop certification of all airborne and airdrop equipment. It sustains the morale, welfare, and training of our Soldiers, civilians, and family members.
The Adjutant General established the North Carolina NationalGuard Officer Candidate School at Fort Bragg on 19 December 1957. The North Carolina National Guard appealed to Headquarters Third United States Army to provide suitable facilities at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. On 19 May 1958, earned Federal Recognition effect that date as an accredited State Officer Candidate School. The School had it official opening with a weekend assembly on 24-25 May 1958. Class Number 1 was limited to sixty candidates from 81 applicants. The academy grew into the 139th Regiment (Combat Arms) and is a world-class training site. Active Duty, Guard and Reserve Soldiers both combat arms and combat support learn there year round with emphasis on Military Occupational Specialty, Additional Skill Identifier and Officer and Noncommissioned Officer Education training.
The 3-58th AOB’s relocated to Fort Bragg, N.C., Storck Barracks, Germany, in 2015. The 3-58th AOB occupied newly assigned facilities, integrated personnel into the Fort Bragg community, and established the key systems in order to begin collective training no later than 15 June 2015.
