Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Gregory A. Seymour, originally from Augusta, Georgia joined the United States Army on October 27, 1997, as a Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. CSM Seymour assignments during his career include, Cannon Crewmember, Ammunition Team Chief, Gunner, and Howitzer Section Chief with 1st Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; Chief of Firing Battery/Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant, 1st Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major, 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment at Camp Casey, Korea and Operations Sergeant Major, 82nd Airborne Division Artillery.

CSM Seymour’s military and civilian education includes all levels of Primary Military Education, Field Artillery Master Gunner Course, Master Resilience Course, Battle Staff Course, Sling Load Inspection Course, Explosive Safety Naval Artillery Course, Field Artillery Weapons Mechanic Course, Defense Packaging and Hazardous Material Transportation Course, Basic Airborne School, and the U.S. Army Advanced Airborne School, as well as ongoing education with Purdue Global University.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Valorous Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with Silver Leaf Cluster and five Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal with eight Awards, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Iraqi Campaign Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with five Awards, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with four Awards, Combat Action Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge and the CSM Seymour was awarded the 3rd Brigade Combat Team Jump Master of the Year 2010. He was personally recognized by the Fayetteville, North Carolina Chamber of Commerce for his actions in Support of the Global War on Terrorism. CSM Seymour is an Ancient Order of Saint Barbara recipient and is a Distinguished Member of the 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment.

CSM Seymour’s deployments include support to the Global War on Terrorism, which was comprised of one deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with Campaign Star, Operation Iraqi Freedom with four campaign stars, Operation Inherent Resolve Ribbon. CSM Seymour also served a tour in the Republic of Korea.
