Dr. Kevin Griess is from Sutton, Nebraska and is proud to be a retired Air Force veteran and a long serving Army Civilian Professional Installation Manager.
Griess began his Department of the Army civilian career in 2003 as the Installation Anti-Terrorism Manager at United States Army Garrison (USAG) Humphreys, South Korea and has had successive assignments and promotions as Director, DPTMS (S3); Director, Emergency Services; Chief, Plans and Integration Office at USAG Humphreys and Deputy Garrison Commander positions at the battalion and brigade level at USAG Schweinfurt and USAG Ansbach, Germany. Following a developmental assignment to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment (ASA IEE), he served as the first Installation Management Command (IMCOM)-Europe Liaison to Headquarters IMCOM in San Antonio. Prior to assignment at Fort Liberty, he was the brigade level Deputy Garrison Commander for USAG Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany since 2017.
Prior to serving with the Army, Griess had a successful career in military law enforcement in the U.S. Air Force in positions ranging from Security Forces K-9 handler, trainer/supervisor to Superintendent, Installation Law Enforcement and Nuclear Weapons Security. His assignments included Osan Air Base, Korea; Travis Air Force Base (AFB), California; Lackland AFB, Texas; Vandenberg, AFB, California and FE Warren AFB, Wyoming.
Griess has a bachelor’s degree in Workforce Development from Southern Illinois University; master’s degree in Human Resources and Information Technology from Lesley University; Master of Public Administration from Harvard University; master’s degree in National Security from Industrial College of the Armed Forces (now Eisenhower School) and a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Capella University.
